Ducati Panigale V4-riding TJ Alberto poised to win 2024 PSBK title

MANILA: Timothy Joseph “TJ”  Alberto of Access Plus Racing is set to win this year’s PSBK title aboard his #77 Ducati Panigale V4. 

The defending champion of PSBK, as well as his teammate and younger brother Troy Alberto, has been together with the Panigale V4 nameplate since the team started the series in 2021, with Ducati Philippines as the team’s sponsor. 

Fast forward to the latest PSBK season, TJ Alberto and his 1,103-cc ride have already secured a 39-point lead ahead of his competitors. As such, he is only one race win away from securing his fourth consecutive Philippine Superbike Rider of the Year crown. With his red-colored Ducati, TJ Alberto has won 80 percent of his races in 2024. 

At the start of the 2024 season, the Ducati-made motorcycle helped Alberto gain a strong start via back-to-back victories at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC). Troy Alberto likewise managed to secure podium finishes at this year’s first PSBK round. 

For the second round of the season, however, Troy faced some difficulties when he crashed in the said event’s first race. Nevertheless, TJ Alberto managed to achieve second place finishes in the second round. 

The team eventually came back strong for Round 3 at the Clark International Speedway (CIS), with TJ Alberto securing two race victories. The racer likewise attained victories at the rain-soaked Round 4 (CIS) and the highly competitive Round 5 (BRC) of the said racing series. 

“I’m looking forward to finishing the season on a good note. It’s been a great season so far. We’re coming into the last race of the season with a good points advantage. If we can keep it upright we should be able to take the championship title. Praying that everything goes well,” TJ Alberto shared. 

For folks who don’t want to miss the penultimate 2024 PSBK race, do note that it is scheduled to kick off at CIS in Mabalacat, Pampanga, from October 12-13, 2024. 

Locally, the stock form of the Ducati Panigale V4 has a starting price of P1.995 million. It is powered by a 1,103-cc Desmosedici Stradale four-cylinder engine capable of producing up to 214 horsepower and 124 Newton-meters of torque.
