Ducati sells 50,000 bikes 5 years in a row
MANILA: Ducati ended 2019 on a positive note, underscoring the growth of the Italian motorcycle company in recent years.
Ducati sold a total of 53,183 motorcycles in 2019. This is in comparison with 53,004 motorcycles supplied to customers worldwide in 2018. The Ducati Panigale and the Ducati Multistrada are among the popular models of Ducati worldwide since it led the sales of the company during the previous year.
The result showed that Ducati's sales during the fifth consecutive year was above 50,000 units and reported positive market indicators. Their sales registered a market growth of 1.4% in the above 500cc category.
At the end of 2019, Ducati's turnover hit €716 million, a rise of 2.4% from €699 million in 2018. High-end motorcycle maker Borgo Panigale achieved an operating profit of 7.2% compared to 7% in 2018.
Turnover for each bike figure was €13,500 and, according to Ducati, this is the highest value in the company's history. This statistic also demonstrates the evolutionary shift in the product selection being sold against the premium and highest market share.
The Ducati Panigale remained the bestselling superbike in the world for the second consecutive year, with a market share of 25%. The Multistrada family recorded the highest value of motorcycle sales since its market entry in 2003. The growth was achieved through the addition of the 950 S and the revamped Ducati 1260 Enduro.
Ducati currently has 1,655 employees because spread across its sales network of 720 distributors and service centers in more than 90 countries.
Ducati temporarily suspended operations at Borgo Panigale due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the company has confirmed that assistance for all customers worldwide will continue.
