Ecooter launches the E1+, E2L, and E2R in the Philippines

MANILA: The future seems to have started becoming the present as we see more and more electric two-wheelers and cars making their way to the Philippines. The major problem with the electric scooters has always been their looks and performance figures. It has been quite challenging to find an EV scooter in the Philippines that can provide both long-range and high top speed at the same time. The wait has ended, though.

Ecooter E2

Last week, at the launch event that transpired at the Bonifacio High Street, Ecooter launched three new electric scooters for the Philippine market. The afresh two-wheelers are the E1+, E2L, and E2R. While the E1+ and E2L boast a top speed of 75 kmph thanks to a 2.5 kW motor, the E2R gets a much larger 4.2 kW motor and can go up to 90 kmph. Ecooter has also claimed that the E2 performs as good as any 125cc scooter in the market. A 64 V 30Ah battery powers the Ecooter E1+. The E2L and E2R, on the other hand, house a 20 Ah and 50 Ah battery, respectively. The charging times for the E1+, E2L, and E2L are 4 hours, 2.5 hours, and 6 hours.

Apart from the internal batteries, customers can also have a swappable battery of 64V 20 Ah, 30 Ah, or 40 Ah capacity. Note that the Ecooter E+ does not have the battery swapping feature. The range can be anywhere from 80-km to 140-km depending on the battery combination you choose. The Ecooter E2 range rides on 12-inch alloy wheels that come wearing tubeless tyres. An aluminium alloy frame and disc brakes at both ends provide the E2s with reliable stability and decent stopping power. There is a combination brake system for enhanced braking performance. Furthermore, the Ecooter EV scooters don a wading capacity of 260 mm.

The instrument cluster on the scooters is an LCD screen. Also, Ecooter has designed a smartphone app that can be used to monitor various readings like battery level and tyre pressure, and even lock and unlock the scooter. The price of the EV scooters also includes one swappable-battery and the membership of the battery-swap program. However, customers can decide not to have the membership and can only purchase a spare battery. A spare battery costs Php 35,000 to Php 65,000.

Ecooter EV scooters do not need to be registered for the moment until the LTO comes up with proper guidelines for the registration of EV scooters. Anyone with a driver's license can ride them with any problem. Ecooter has priced the E1+ at Php 115,000, E2L at Php 95,000, and the E2R at Php 190,000. All three scooters come with a 2-year warranty for the battery and a 1-year warranty for the scooter itself.
