According to Grab PH, the Palamig Spots were put up in strategic locations in Metro Manila, Davao, and Cebu. What group helped distribute refreshments at the mini lounge areas?
The Grab Ugnayan Advocates volunteered to help in the distribution of the refreshments at the company’s Palamig Spots.Specifically, the local arm of the Singaporean mobility and logistics brand put up cold and convenient rest stops in Quezon City Memorial Circle, Agdao Public Market, and SM City Cebu Terminal. These mini lounge areas helped cool down street sweepers, traffic enforcers, delivery riders, and other workers who spend their days under the heat of the sun.
“The Grab Palamig Spots, an initiative under Grab’s No Sweat Summer campaign, is a manifestation of the superapp’s commitment to enabling all Filipinos to go through the hot season conveniently and hassle-free — with much-needed breaks and moments of respite in between,” Grab Philippines wrote in a press release.
Inside, those looking for a brief respite from the scorching heat were able to enjoy temperatures as low as 16 degrees C. Guests were also offered green-colored refreshments — like sodas, sweet tea drinks, as well as avocado and buko pandan ice creams — themed after the official color of the brand.
The Grab Ugnayan Advocates (a network of delivery-riders focused on community outreach) volunteered to help in the distribution of the refreshments.
“The heat has a big effect on us, especially since we are often soaked in the heat of the sun. So I salute my fellow riders and those like us who make a living on the road. When I heard that we had such a special event for us and other beggars along the way, we immediately decided to help in any way we could,” Ugnayan Advocate member Big Daddy shared.
Grab Philippines not only worked with the respective local government units where they opened the Palamig Spots but also activated special push notifications and GrabMap Pins to encourage its partners to drop by the rest stops.
