Honda showcases new V3 engine at EICMA 2024
Electric compressor allows high-response torque delivery even in lower rpms
MANILA: Honda Motor Company has unveiled a new V3 engine at the ongoing Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) 2024.

Per Honda, it plans to use its new V3 engine on large displacement motorcycles.Per the Japanese marque, the new motorcycle engine is said to feature the world’s first electrical compressor for motorcycles to control compression of the intake air — allowing the delivery of high-response torque even from lower revolutions.
Further, the water-cooled motorcycle engine was built with a 75-degree orientation, giving it a slim and compact design.
“Honda sees the development of this V3 engine with an electrical compressor as a new challenge in the area of internal combustion engines, and its goal is to enable customers to further experience the joy of riding and owning a motorcycle. Honda plans to apply the new V3 engine to larger displacement models in the future, and will continue its development toward mass production,” the company wrote in a press release.
According to Honda, its goal is to provide products that meet the needs of various customers by offering a wide range of products from daily commuters to exciting new models. The Tokyo-headquartered motorcycle firm is also taking on the challenge of developing advanced technologies by adding electric motorcycles and other products to its product lineup to meet the diversifying needs of today’s customers.
On that note, Honda — during the said Milan Motorcycle Show — also presented two new electric concept models, which are the EV Fun Concept (photo shown above) and EV Urban Concept.

Relatedly, its Philippine subsidiary rolled out the Honda EM1 e: electric scooter. Seen as a model that kickstarts the brand’s journey for the electric two-wheel market, it uses a brushless, in-wheel, three-phase motor that produces up to 2.2 horsepower with 90 Newton-meters of torque.
The Honda EM1 e: — which boasts an estimated range of 41.3 kilometers — retails in the Philippines for P155,400. It draws energy from the proprietary Honda Mobile Power Pack e: (which costs P42,000), which can be charged using Honda Power Pack Charger e: (sold at P18,000).
