Italjet Dragster 200cc to arrive in the Philippines in 2019
MANILA: Access Plus, the official distributor of Italjet motorcycles and scooters has confirmed the arrival of its brand new Dragster to the Philippines market. According to the company’s spokesperson, the 200c version of the scooter will hit the domestic market by the first half of 2019.
Recently, the brand new Italjet Dragster 125cc and 200cc have been unveiled at the 2018 EICMA motorbike show in Milan. Following which, Access Plus made an announcement via social media mentioning it will accept orders for the Philippine market.
Answering the question that whether both the 125cc and 200cc variants will be available to the market or not, Toti Alberto, company’s CEO said that the 200cc will arrive here. Furthermore, he also said that the two-wheeler will be priced at Php 200,000.
The price is exciting for an aggressively styled scooter. In Italy, the 125cc and 200cc bike’s price are between 4,500 and 4,800 euros, which when converted into Philippine’s currency will be around Php 300,000.
The Dragster was first launched in the year 1993 and remained in the market for 10 years until its production was stopped in 2003. It would be interesting to see how a cult scooter makes it come back after a long period of time.
The 125cc Italjet Dragster is capable of belting out up to 15 hp, whereas, the 200cc variant pushes out a maximum of 20 hp. The two-wheeler gets a four-valve, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine.
As for now, the Italjet Formula 150cc is being sold in the Access Plus’s main showroom, which is situated at Quezon City. The idea of bringing the Dragster to the country came when, Massimo Tartarini, Italjet’s big boss visited the Philippines and realized that the demand of scooters is rising in the market.
