KTM Philippines released the all-new 790 Duke
MANILA: KTM has now launched the 790 Duke, it’s the company’s first parallel twin motorcycle. The bike was released on the first day of this year’s Inside Racing Bike Fest (IRBF). KTM also announced its partnership with Ibero Asistencia for global roadside assistance.
KTM has released the prototype of the 790 Duke back at EICMA 2016. The company had earlier nicknamed the bike as “the Scalpel”. The bike was crafted to possess a power of an 800 cc in a package that boasted the agility of a 600 cc. KTM has well-delivered on these grounds. It has a brand new middleweight, designed by KISKA and claimed to be KTM’s “sharpest tool in the shed”. This is the first bike by KTM that offers a parallel twin offering. It has a new LC8C DOHC engine with parallel twin offerings.
The 790 Duke is powered by a powerful 4-stroke along with a liquid-cooled 799 cc parallel twin engine. The bike is rated to make 104.7 PS at 9,000 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. It has a middleweight and is equipped with a powder-coated, chromium-molybdenum-steel frame with the engine serving as a stressed member. The front has 43 mm WP inverted forks and 300 m disc brakes along with a WP mono shock and a single 240 mm disc in the rear. Its seat height is measured at 825 mm, fuel capacity is approximately 14-litre, and the bike weighs 174 kg wet.
The motorcycle is equipped with a set of cutting-edge technologies. KTM has stated these technologies to be the best in its class. The electronics suite includes cornering ABS, Motor Slip Regulation (MSR), Multi-mode Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), a clutchless Quickshifter, full-color TFT display, and all-around LED lighting. The motorcycle is now for sale in the Philippines for ₱790,000.
KTM Philippines COO Dino Santos together with KTM Southeast Asia Managing Director Julian Legazpi and Ibero Asistencia Philippines General Manager Antonio Toledano introduced KTM’s partnership with Ibero Asistencia. This partnership will provide global roadside and travel assistance for KTM riders. It will include a promo price of ₱999 that will allow KTM's customers to access Ibero Asistencia’s 24/7 hotline — which covers 86 areas in Luzon, 17 in the Visayas, and 17 in Mindanao. The program also includes ambulance service, hospital admission, and accident assistance in coordination with local government units.
