Kymco wants to launch its first fully-electric scooter in the Philippines

MANILA: Kymco Philippines has unveiled the Many EV, its first fully-electric scooter at the 13th Inside Racing Bike Fest, held at the World Trade Center in Manila. It is powered by the manufacturer’s IONEX (Intelligent Open Network Electric Experience), which is mainly a combination of a charging station, portable charger, and an advanced Li-ion battery pack.

The scooter comes with a 3.2 Kilowatt electric motor, which claims to provide a maximum speed of 60 kmph. The Many EV weighs around 87 kilograms. It uses the Biactron efficiency technology that helps to make it energy efficient. Moreover, the scooter weighs far less and takes less space than its competitors.

The Many EV features hot-swappable extra and core internal batteries. These all together make a combination and helps to increase the riding range. The e-scooter comes with five batteries that give the assurance to provide a range of 200 kilometres. Each battery has its own charger, while the removable battery weights around 5 kgs so that the rider can carry these batteries to home easily for refilling purpose.

One can easily charge the core batteries from the regular wall outlet. To charge the removable battery, the bike maker also provides a separate charger. Meanwhile, the owner can also charge the removable battery at the nearest KYMCO IONEX energy stations. If the owners have the subscription to the additional services, they can simply swap it with a fully charged battery.

The Many EV also comes with the Noodoe Navigation system, which is optional. It can be used to display the weather, navigation, and clock in a round-shaped LCD screen. Also, the owner can connect it to the helmet communication system or a cellular phone, so that it can broadcast audio from the navigation by providing the turn by turn directions.

However, KYMCO Philippines declared nothing about the Many EV's launch. It seems that the manufacturer is facing some issues to bring the scooter’s price down making it affordable for the potential buyers. The Philippines government has come up with the TRAIN program, which allows importing fully electric vehicles without any excise tax. However, this program can not also make the price down of this e-scooter.
