Kymco DT X360 350

Based on the Downtown 350i, the new Kymco DT X360 350 takes note of all the shortcomings of the former, with an all-new design language with modern elements and features. Unlike the Downtown 350i, which now appears too long in the tooth, the new Kymco DT X360 350 has a fresh visual appeal which can attract younger generation buyers.

The front profile of the Kymco DT X360 350 looks bold with aggressive bodywork, with the front apron comprising sharp creases and angular dual LED headlamps. The trapezoidal LED headlamps are placed on the lower edges of the front apron and are accompanied by sleek and long L-shaped daytime running LEDs. This bold-looking fascia is further complemented by a tall and transparent windscreen at the top.

Moving towards the side profile, the Kymco DT X360 350 further appeals more with equal sportiness as the front profile, with the side panels having a lot of creases and sharp-looking elements. The split floorboard has a central tunnel, while the zig-zag-shaped lower panels flow towards the side profile panels which are characterised by sharp lines over them. Even the airbox cover and engine casing have sharp-looking designs for them, complementing the overall appeal of the scooter.

The Kymco DT X360 350 has a wide-looking rear profile, comprising of the angular three-part tail lamp, which features all-LED illumination with turn indicators on the sides and a centrally-placed tail lamp. Above the tail lamp cluster, the Kymco DT X360 350 also gets huge split pillion grab rails placed behind the large and capacious seat. The Kymco DT X360 350 offers an under-seat storage compartment, which can easily accommodate two small-sized helmets.

Unlike the slightly old-school instrument console of the Downtown 350i, the new Kymco DT X360 350 has a full-LCD instrument console with digital readouts for the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, clock and other warning lights. The maxi-scooter also has a few other features like two USB charging sockets and alloy wheels to go with its youthful appeal.

Like a conventional maxi-scooter, the suspension setup of the Kymco DT X360 350 complements its bulky design with a comfort-oriented tune. This scooter comes with 37mm telescopic forks with 110mm travel at the front and twin adjustable rear coil springs with preload adjustment and 108mm travel at the rear.

Equipped with a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel, the new Kymco DT X360 350 has 120/80-14 front and 150/70-13 rear tubeless tyres, which offer decent levels of grip. The scooter also has a braking combination of a 260mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, and while the scooter remains planted and sure-footed at higher speeds, the large turning radius can make the scooter a task to handle at lower speeds for some new riders.

The Kymco DT X360 350 shares its four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve, 321cc engine with the Downtown 350i maxi-scooter. Paired with a belt-driven CVT gearbox, this engine produces 30 PS of maximum power and 30 Nm of maximum torque. The engine feels peppy enough to make this maxi-scooter feel energetic, especially at lower RPMs. However, the refinement levels are not up to the mark at higher RPMs, where the engine can feel strained at times.

The Kymco DT X360 350 has been equipped with a dual-channel ABS, with the scooter also getting keyless ignition and a lockable storage space under its seat. However, for its price and the segment in which it competes, we would have loved to see a few more safety features on offer.

The Kymco DT X360 350 has a very sharp-looking design, which is a significant step up over the slightly old-school Downtown 350i on which it is based. The engine and chassis derived from the Downtown are decent enough to position the new Kymco DT X360 350 as a premium 350cc maxi-scooter for the masses.
