MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy Now 80% Complete
MANILA: Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes stated that the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy is already 80% complete during an inspection on Friday at the construction site along Meralco Avenue in Pasig City.

The MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy can accommodate 100 students per batch.“Facilities for the Motorcycle Riding Academy are ready. There are just a few things that need to be fixed and until then, it will be in full swing and open to the public,” Artes said.
He added that the container vans that were previously used as COVID-19 quarantine facilities would be turned into classrooms for the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy.
For the convenience of those interested in taking advantage of the two-day training for free, the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy will also be built with a clinic, comfort rooms, shower rooms, and dining areas. The MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy can accommodate 100 students per batch.
MMDA will also supply the motorcycles and fuel for the program. The only items that riders will need to bring are their own helmets and personal protective gears.
Artes expressed gratitude to the agency's partners in the conception of the Motorcycle Riding Academy, including the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for letting the MMDA to use the vacant property, Honda Motors Philippines for helping in the technical aspect of the curriculum, and Dashi Watanabe for the refresher training course provided to MMDA staff who will be serving as instructors.
MMDA is coordinating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to get the motorcycle riding course accredited. MMDA is also in negotiations with ride-hailing providers to give course graduates priority in hiring.
“Hopefully, we can change the mindset of motorcycle rider-graduates of this academy and make them disciplined motorists,” Artes stated.
The MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy is slated to open in the third quarter of 2023.
