MANILA: Moovr, the first bicycle and e-scooter sharing company in the Philippines, will now serve the Makati Central Business District (CBD) starting this November.

So far, Moovr PH said it has 55 bicycles in the area. The company plans to roll out e-scooters soon.Through the Moovr app, users who need "micro-mobility" for short distances can rent the company's bikes and e-scooters. The service was first launched in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
"With many short-distance trips taking place in Makati every day, Moovr provides a sustainable option that lets people beat the city traffic and move with ease," the company said in a release.
Moovr expands to the city as more bike lanes are installed along Ayala Avenue and in Legaspi and Salcedo Villages, the company said. Meanwhile, bike ramps in the Makati City underpasses have also been built.
The launch of Moovr in Makati is made in partnership with Ayala Land.
During the virtual media roundtable discussion of the launch, Founder and CEO of Moovr Anna Moncupa pleasantly noted that the city shares Moovr's goal of providing alternative modes of transport.
Currently, there are 11 Moovr Hubs in the city and 55 bicycles in total, while e-scooters will be rolled out soon, Moncupa added.
In Q4 of this year, new Moovr bike stations will be installed in areas of Legaspi Village to make way for the Bike-and-Dine initiatives in Makati Al Fresco parklets, the company added.
Both the company and Ayala Land look optimistic for the bike sharing app's uptake in the area.
Around 1,500 to 2,000 cyclists have been observed plying the Ayala Avenue, Ayala Land Estate Development Manager Shiella Aguilar shared during the roundtable.
Listed below are the steps on how to rent a Moovr bicycle or e-scooter:
1. Download the free Moovr app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Then, create an account by registering your email address, or by linking your Facebook or Google account.
2. Once your profile is activated, find your ride by going to the nearest Moovr Hub. Helmets are not required, but are encouraged for personal safety.
3. Select your vehicle, and unlock it by scanning a QR code to start riding. Vehicles can be rented for a maximum of 24 hours, and e-scooters must be returned if its battery charge is less than 15%.
4. During the ride, the Moovr app will direct you to the parking spot near your destination.
5. Once your ride is complete, simply park and lock the bike or scooter in the Moovr Hub and end the ride in your app.
To pay for the rental, Moncupa said that users can use the Moovr Wallet, or link other e-wallet apps.
In case of emergency, users can contact Moovr personnel through the app, the bike sharing company CEO said.
