Suzuki Raider 150: Features explained

Suzuki Raider 150: Features explained

We don’t have to make you aware of the fact that the underbone two-wheeler segment in the Philippines is overcrowded. There are so many models from different brands available for purchase that even the customers get confused as to which one to go for. Just like every other motorcycle company, Suzuki, too, is knee-deep in the underbone segment but it’s trying to make a difference by using its years of experience. The result? Suzuki Raider R150.

Suzuki Raider 150 With Model

The Raider R150 has been carefully designed from ground zero to make sure it ticks all the checkboxes of being an underbone and at the same time, it also feels much more than just an underbone. So, here we are to explain the key features of the Raider R150 which would make you understand why it’s different than the others.

Sporty and unique design

Well, of course, the Raider R150 is an underbone two-wheeler and it will look like one, that fact can’t be changed. But what Suzuki did change was its personality. The Raider R150 carries itself with utmost pride thanks to its very sporty and unique design and styling. Suzuki says that the Raider R150 draws inspiration from the GSX-R lineage, not just in terms of looks but also in terms of speed and performance.

Suzuki Raider 150 Design

Blue lens headlight

The Raider features a blue lens headlight, something that we don't see every day. Also, the design of the headlight is quite sporty and attractive. It also gets integrated side turn signals which not only save space but also enhance the looks of the underbone.

Sharp taillight

The rear end of the Raider R150 gets a sharp taillight cluster that comes with integrated turn signals. The whole package looks pretty decent.

Suzuki Raider 150 Features

Sporty instrument panel

This is one of the best features that we have seen in the Raider R150. Suzuki has designed the instrument cluster in two parts. There is an analogue tachometer that shows the revs. It really looks very cool. A digital tacho can never give the same feeling like a good old analogue tacho. The other part of Raider’s instrument panel is digital. It’s a small display that shows various information like odometer, fuel gauge, speed, etc.

Reliable DOHC engine

Listed on the Suzuki Raider R150 specs sheet is a 147.3cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine with a DOHC setup. This is an extremely reliable engine which produces 15.4 bhp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 12.4 Nm is generated at 8,500 rpm. The engine is pretty refined and rev-happy. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which is super fun to operate. Mind you, this is a carburetted engine. There is a different model of the Raider R150 that comes with fuel injection.

Suzuki Raider 150 Features 2

Underbelly cowl/engine cowl

The underbelly cowl on the Raider R150 does two jobs - it goes well with the overall sporty design of the two-wheeler thus making it look cooler and preventing the engine from foreign unwanted objects.

Sporty exhaust

Suzuki has slapped on a stainless steel muffler on the exhaust of the Raider R150. This adds a bit of premium-ness. There’s a cap at the end which shows Suzuki’s eye for detail.

Braking

Suzuki has provided tubeless tyres on the Raider R150. It comes with a 70/90 - 17 38P tyre at the front and an 80/90 - 17 44P tyre at the rear. These tyres provide decent grip which helps in the braking performance of the underbone. Talking about brakes, the Raider R150 gets wavy or petal disc brakes at both the ends.

Suzuki Raider 150 Side Profile

These were some of the key features of the Raider R150. It’s a good package for people who are looking to buy a sporty underbone. It comes in three variants that are differentiated on the grounds of colour. The Premium Color variant is available in four colors - MotoGP blue, Black, Red, and Yellow. Then we have the Matte Black Premium Edition that offers only a single Matte Black color. And the last one is the Combat Series, which is again a matte series but with added graphics. This is available in either Combat Matte Black or Combat Matte Grey. The Suzuki Raider R150 price starts at Php 96,900.
