Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX proves mettle by conquering the Cordilleras

MANILA: Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPI) has proven the capabilities of the V-Strom 250 SX by putting the middleweight adventure bike through its paces at the Cordillera mountain range.

Per the local wing of the Japanese motorcycle company, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX successfully conquered the renowned Cordillera Adventure Tour Category 3 with the group V-Strom Adventure Philippines (VAP).

The enthusiasts were able to experience the versatility and capability of the lightweight go-anywhere motorcycle further attesting to its title as the Master of Adventure.

Cordillera-tested standard specs

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX is powered by a 250 cubic centimeter, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine with Suzuki Eco Performance technology. It is mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission system.

Here are its performance figures:

• 26 horsepower
• 22.2 Newton-meters of torque

With enough power and torque, participants were able to kick off from Baguio City to Atok in Benguet. Their journey continued to Lubuagan then to Tabuk, Kalinga.

The motorcycle’s nimbleness was tested as the team passed through the twisties of Namaltugan to Mount Kilang Pass heading to the Blazing Mountains of the Gods en route to Laoag City in Ilocos Norte.

• 100/90 tubeless tire (front)
• 17-inch wheels (rear)
• 140/70 tubeless tire (rear)

Both wheels get disc brakes with anti-lock braking technology. They are connected to a telescopic fork (front) and a swing arm (rear) setup.

The stock and standard setup of the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX helped the motorcycle riders conquer the terrains of Malibcong heading to Sagada, Taccong passing through the Aluling Bridge at Ilocos Sur.

Further, having 12 liters of gasoline in the tank meant that the participants did not have to refuel often.

Overall, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX saw the riders make their final pass from Cervantes to Quirino Skyline, Gregorio del Pilar and Sigay, crossing from Ilocos Sur to La Union before heading back to Baguio City.
