Yamaha Fazzio receives new variants in Indonesia, will PH get it too?

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Indonesia has expanded the lineup of the popular Fazzio scooter with two new variants. 

At the time of writing, the Yamaha Fazzio in Indonesia is now offered in three trims, which we have listed below: 

• Fazzio Standard
• Fazzio Lux
• Fazzio Neo

Their price ranges from rp (rupiah) 21.5 million to rp 23.955 million, or approximately P80,094 to P89,240. 

“Fazzio is the first Hybrid technology motorcycle in Indonesia and a pioneer of Classy Yamaha, which has successfully created a ‘trend setter’ for youngsters such as Gen Z and Millennials. This is proven by the demand for Fazzio which continues to grow and increase, because this product is not only a mobility solution for young people but also a ‘lifestyle item’ that supports their driving lifestyle,” PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing Deputy Director of Marketing Takaaki Hirama said.

“Seeing the high enthusiasm of Millennials and Gen Z towards Fazzio and their lifestyle trends that continue to grow, at today’s Fazzio Day event we are launching a new variant, namely the Fazzio Hybrid. With the addition of new variants, it is hoped that Fazzio can cover even more young people who like this motorbike. In addition to new variants, there are also updates to parts, colors, and new accessories that we present for consumers,” he added.

New variants

No evident cosmetic updates are seen on the new trims. However, they do present motorcycle enthusiasts in Indonesia with cool colorways, which might help them better express themselves through their rides.

Hybrid system 

Powering the Indonesian-spec Yamaha Fazzio Hybrid is the marque’s Blue Core Hybrid engine with a displacement of 124.86 cubic centimeters and is accompanied by a power-assist system, which augments the driving force when starting from a stop. 

According to the Japanese motorcycle brand, the instantaneous assistive power of the hybrid engine is particularly effective when riding with a passenger or with uphill starts. 

Facilitating smooth shifting is a continuously variable transmission with a dry centrifugal clutch system. 

The Yamaha Fazzio Hybrid makes 8.3 horsepower with 10.6 Newton-meters of torque. 

It is worth noting that the same hybrid technology is fitted in the Philippine-market Yamaha Mio Fazzio.

Style, frame 

At the fore, the Indonesian-spec Yamaha Fazzio Hybrid wears a circular headlamp with turn signals integrated into its front-facing fenders. 

The neo-classic look extends to the sides with rounded side claddings, a flat footboard, metal foot pegs (that sit flush when folded), and a comfortable-looking saddle. 

Its rear gets rounded handlebars and a taillight that mimics the style of the headlamp. 

The hybrid-powered Yamaha Fazzio in Indonesia sports an underbone frame with a telescopic front fork and a swing unit suspension at the rear. 

It rides on 12-inch wheels with 110/70 series tubeless tires, front and back. 

Stopping power comes from a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. 

Will PH get new variants? 

We are yet to hear from the company’s local arm if it has plans to expand the Yamaha Fazzio family in the country by adding new variants.  

However, Zigwheels Philippines was told by an unnamed source that the Yamaha Mio Fazzio will receive new colorways before the year ends. 

Currently, the Philippine-market small displacement scooter can be had in Ivory White, Matte Orange, and Pastel Blue.
