Yamaha Mio Aerox S - Reasons to buy
If you are planning to buy an automatic scooter, it is most likely that you are going to use it thoroughly and every single day. This is one of the major reasons why people consider Japanese scooters because, of course, Japanese engines are considered to be some of the world’s finest. In the Philippines, the automatic scooter segment is flooded with options and choices. In the 150 cc segment, the Yamaha Mio Aerox S is deemed to be the best of the best. In this story, we are going to tell you a few reasons why you should buy the Mio Aerox S over the other automatic scooters.
Design and aesthetics
The Mio Aerox S is the top-end variant of Yamaha’s Mio range of scooters. A variant just below this is the Mio Aerox. As you would have figured it out, both these scooters are very similar to each other in various aspects. Design is one of them. Clearly, Yamaha wanted to target the younger audience that’s why it has implemented such sporty and aggressive design elements. Both the Mio Aerox and Mio Aerox S features twin LED headlight setup, sporty fairing all around, blacked-out exhaust, sporty seat, and much more. The area where the S is different from the standard model is colours. Unlike the standard model, which comes in 3 colour options - Race Blue, Vibrant Orange and Black Raven - the S offers two matte colours. There are also new graphics to help it stand apart from the standard model.
Engine and fuel efficiency
Yamaha Mio Aerox S specs sheet share a lot in common with that of the standard model. It is powered by the same 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 15 PS of max power at 8,000 rpm and 13.8 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm. It comes with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology which provides optimum combustion, increases cooling efficiency, and reduces power loss. To further enhance the fuel efficiency, Yamaha has added the Stop & Start System in the Mio Aerox S. This system shutdowns the engine if it is idling for more than 5 seconds. This prevents unnecessary fuel consumption thereby increasing the fuel efficiency. You can restart the engine with the quick start function.
Smart key system
This is yet another exclusive feature of the Mio Aerox S. Yamaha provides a smart key with the scooter. It allows you to unlock your Mio with a keyless ignition system. You can even fire it up by just a push of a button. It is kind of a luxury feature to have.
Anti-lock brakes
The Mio Aerox already has a disc brake at the front. It also comes with wide tyres and has good braking performance. But to ensure you have the maximum braking performance available at all times, the Mio Aerox S is equipped with anti-lock brakes. This system continuously keeps a check on the speed of both the wheels and prevents their locking.
These were some of the features that set the Mio Aerox S apart from its standard model and should be more than sufficient to help you make your buying decision. Keep in mind that the aforementioned features are add ons. The Mio Aerox S gets all the other features of its standard counterpart. These include LED headlights, LED tail lamp, fully digital LCD instrument console with a lot of information, variable valve actuation that provides torque over a wide rev range, alloy wheels, large under-seat storage of 25-litres where you can fit in a full-face helmet and a few of your other personal belongings, electric power socket for charging smartphones on the go, etc.
With the additional features, the Yamaha Mio Aerox S price has gone up a little. It costs Php 122,900 which is 20,000 bucks more than the price of the standard Mio Aerox. We think that if you are spending Php 102,900, you might add the extra 20 grand and get yourself the Mio Aerox S because of the added features, and especially because of the addition of ABS. It is a small safety feature but is really a lifesaver.
