Yamaha Mio i 125: Features explained

Yamaha Mio i 125: Features explained

Yamaha Mio series of automatic scooters have been quite widespread in the Philippines market. These vehicles are pretty well priced and offer a good number of features. Yamaha Philippines has basically targetted the younger population with its Mio series. Today, we are going to talk about the Mio i 125. It falls somewhere in the middle of the series and is one of the most popular 125 cc scooters in the country. Let’s have a look at some of the key features that make it so famous.

Aesthetics

To make the Mio i 125 loved by the youngsters, Yamaha provided some really good color options. There are total six of them - Black, Yellow, White, Orange, Blue, and Pink - which make the Mio i 125 suitable for both the genders. Apart from the lively colors, it was the sporty design that attracted a lot of young buyers.

At the front, the headlight has been placed lower and remains stationary while you move around the handle. It has a sharp design and is complemented by a pair of side turn indicators. Also, if you notice carefully, the headlight, the side turn signals and the front fairing combined give an impression of the letter ‘M’. It is the same case at the rear where we have an M-shaped grab bar. These are some really nice touches. Moving to the side, the aggressive-looking fairing carries the sporty look here as well and the muscular muffler enhances the overall styling. We also get graphics on the wheels.

Instrument cluster

The Mio i 125 has a conventional analogue dash which consists of a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, and a few tell-tale lights. There is an Eco indicator as well which lights up when you are riding in a sane manner which would give you better mileage. The quality of the meter panel is pretty good and the font selection makes a lot of difference.

Storage

Under the seat of the Mio i 125, there is a compartment that provides a storage area of about 10.1 litres. It isn’t much but should be sufficient for keeping a few of your personal belongings like sunglasses, riding gloves, etc.

Engine

Powering the Yamaha Mio i 125 is a 125 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which produces 9.5 PS of max power at 8000 rpm and 9.6 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. Being a fuel-injected engine, performance and fuel efficiency are very well controlled. It also gets Yamaha’s Blue Core technology which makes sure that the engine delivers more performance and consumes less fuel. This is achieved by optimal combustion, increased cooling efficiency, and reduced power loss.

Smart stand switch

This is a clever feature that we think all modern scooters should come equipped with. What it does is that it shuts off the engine if the side stand is dropped down. Sometimes people do forget to put up the side stand before taking off which might lead to an accident or a crash. Therefore, it wouldn’t be wrong to consider the smart stand switch as a safety feature.

Lightweight

Yamaha Mio i 125 weighs a mere 92 kg with oil and full fuel tank. This makes it one of the lightest 125 cc scooters in the market and thus it is easy to ride, especially in the streets during peak traffic hours. Its lightweight also makes it more comfortable for the female riders to manoeuvre it around.

Braking

On giving a closer look at the Yamaha Mio i 125 specs sheet, you will find that it comes with disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear. This is a good combination for such a vehicle. We are glad that Yamaha didn’t skip on the disc brake here. But we do miss ABS even as an option. Also, thanks to the 70/90-14 M/C 34P front and 80/90-14 M/C 40P rear tyre, which enhance the braking performance.

After going through all the aforementioned features, what do you have to say about it Mio i 125? We think that for a price of Php 71,900, it appears to be a good package suitable for both young male and female customers.
