BYD E6 Review 2025
One of the newest and most innovative cars in its segment, the BYD E6 happens to be one of the very few all-electric crossovers currently available in the Philippine market right now. Armed with a purely electric powertrain, the BYD E6 promises to eradicate the biggest problem of a gasoline-powered crossover in general – higher fuel costs.
BYD E6 Interior & Features
The BYD E6 might look an unattractive thing to look at from the outside, however, tables do take a turn as soon as you step on the inside of the vehicle. The overall layout of the E6 looks quite sci-fi and goes well with the basic theme of the crossover.
The dashboard of the BYD E6 has a theater like layout with a large curve on the upper and lower portions forming different layers and housings. The centrally placed fully digital instrument console is a delight to look at, which displays a lot of information in a cool manner. The centrally placed touchscreen infotainment system with vertical AC vents beside it and everything surrounded by silver finished panel gives it a premium appeal. The lower curve of the dashboard housing gear lever and buttons for climate control are ergonomically placed as well. The dual tone black and beige theme for the dashboard, along with large side glasses, makes the cabin feel airy and wide.
Being a big five-seat crossover, the BYD E6 feels large and spacious on the inside, with an ample amount of legroom, headroom and knee room, along with very capacious boot space.
BYD E6 Exterior
In the present day and age, when crossovers and SUVs are ditching their traditional design cues to look more attractive, modern and eye-catching, the BYD E6 looks like a car from one generation or decade old.
The BYD E6 has a very simple looking front fascia, with a sloping bonnet characterizing its crossover roots. The bonnet ends up on an inverted hexagonal grille, which gets a mix of plain and honeycomb elements. The headlamps too have a boxy design, however, they do get full LED lighting, which is the only cool thing to look at here.
The side profile of the BYD E6 is in its boxy best, with the large windows and bland design for the doors with no character lines making it look very simple and quite dated as well. However, this bland design looks a bit aerodynamic for a crossover this size, courtesy the sloping bonnet.
At the rear too, the BYD E6 has got no noticeable design cues to write home about. The small and vertical tail lamps on the outer edges, along with large rear windshield and small and rectangular license plate housing, make for a very boring looking rear boot.
BYD E6 Ride & Handling
The BYD E6 is a large and boxy crossover, which does give an impression of a not so great handler. And it is not that vehicle to satisfy your driving pleasures as well, as it does things quite simply. The dual independent cross arm setup at the front and dual independent rocker arm setup at the rear are softly sprung to give a decent ride quality feedback. The ventilated disc brakes at the front and disc brakes at the rear do get regenerative braking system as well.
BYD E6 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Ditching the common gasoline powertrain, the BYD E6 crossover gets an in-house developed iron phosphate battery, which is well thought in terms of design and placement within the frame of the vehicle.
At a full charge of the battery, this vehicle is capable of covering 300 kms at most. This battery requires 150 minutes to get fully charged via a 100kW fast charging pole. In the normal mode with a 10kW standard charging pole, it will take at most 6 hours for getting fully charged up.
BYD E6 Braking & Safety
The BYD E6 gets all the basic safety necessities on point, such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, traction control and vehicle stability control.
BYD E6 Verdict
The BYD E6 might not be a vehicle to turn many heads wherever it goes, but when you see from the point of view of inner occupants, it makes up for a great practical vehicle to be in. With sci-fi interiors, which are comfortable and spacious at the same time, as well as low running costs due to fully electric powertrain, the BYD E6 is one crossover which focuses more on function rather than form.
