Haima Fstar PC

The interior is a step above the more basic FStar models but still very spartan. Apart from the large and spacious cloth seats there is ample legroom and headroom. There is also a glove box for added storage space up front. The instrument cluster is a three-dial setup with a small digital display. The display is backlit with blue lighting and looks modern for its price. The interior is also provided with an air conditioner system with blowers distributing the cool air into the rear cabin as well. The rear compartment itself can be fitted with bench seats on the sides that easily seat 8 people. Spray on bed liner flooring is also provided by the company. The view afforded by the large windows in the rear and the front cabin keep the ambiance bright and open. The radio also helps in keeping the passengers entertained.

Haima’s FStar range comprises of many vehicles all sharing the same basic design and layout. The ladder frame allows the rear of the cabin to be modified to suit the needs of its customers. In this avatar, it means that the rear is occupied with a large and boxy enclosed compartment with two large sliding windows on each side and a rear-facing door. The cabin up front looks modern and modular with a curvy and compact bonnet. The black grille up front is plastic and the headlights integrated with indicators flanking it are large and tapered upwards. The bumper underneath is shared by all FStar models and therefore comes with plastic inserts in place of fog lights. But this is the price you pay for keeping costs low by sharing platforms. The side view is dominated by large windows and not much else. The taillights in the rear are provided with guards which should protect them from unnecessary damage. The dimensions are ideal for city use at 4333 mm (L) X 1620 mm (W) X 2060 mm (H). Wheels are 14” with 165R14LT tires.  

The Haima FStar PC is provided with independent MacPherson struts in the front while the rear is mounted on leaf springs. The handling is easy but not the most dynamic. Ride quality is as you’d expect from a setup like this, but it remains livable with normal driving. The suspension works best with a fully loaded rear.

Power in the Haima FStar PC comes from the same engine as in the other FStar vehicles. It is a 1.2 L DOHC 16 valve inline 4 engine that uses fuel injection and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with power being sent to the rear. The power output is rated at 91 hp at 6000 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is also Euro IV compliant giving it good emissions. Mileage is around 13 kmpl on average. The fuel tank has a capacity of 48 L which gives it a good range.

Braking is provided by disc brakes on the front and drum brakes at the rear.

For its price, the FStar PC provides a decent platform for whatever you might have in mind. These vans have gained a lot of popularity and for good reason.
