Honda Brio Modifications
The Honda Brio was relaunched in the Philippines in April 2019, after a hiatus of many years. The Brio is a mid-range hatchback though Honda brands it as a hot hatch. The car has been very successful in the southeast Asian markets and is a common sight on Philippine roads. It's available in four trims. The entry level Brio 1.2 S MT is the trim that's mostly modified to bring it at par with the top level trim.
Popular Honda Brio Modification
There are various ways to enhance the appearance and driving experience of the Honda Brio. Some popular exterior modifications include adding a rear spoiler and customized wheels and tyres. The interior can be modified by changing the company-fitted fabric upholstery with faux-leather or genuine leather one. The audio system can also be upgraded for better sound quality and additional features such as Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. Ambient lights can also be added to create a more stylish and comfortable atmosphere. These modifications
can add a personal touch and unique style without affecting the car's original design or functionality.
Spoiler A rear spoiler can be added to all Honda Brio trims. Many people think that spoilers only enhance the look of the car and serve no other purpose. But the spoiler's job is to adjust the airflow which increases the car's road grip particularly when running at a high speed. It also forges an air-drag to keep the speed under control. Attaching a spoiler to a Brio that doesn't have a tailgate could be tough. It can be added to the rear fender. A mid-range Honda Brio spoiler doesn't cost much. Paint Changing the paint is probably the commonest of all car modifications. The Honda Brio comes in five color options. But you can mix and match the colors to give your car an exclusive look. You can combine the black paint with yellow. It can be used as a dual color scheme. But the factor-paint look is usually not retained when you recolor your car at a local garage. Also, changing the color is hugely expensive. Many car enthusiasts use carbon fiber bits braided together and glue it to the body. Carbon fiber is lightweight and neatly hugs the car. The price of course is much higher than repainting. Wheels The Honda Brio comes with two tire and wheel options, the 185/55 R15 and 175/65 R14. Various tire manufacturing companies have tires that conform to the Brio's specifications. You can choose a wheel color to match the color of your vehicle. Black and yellow are the most preferred colors. White is also popular because it's compatible with most body colors. Customized wheels and tires bring an aggressive and sporty look to the car. Tires with a different tread have a huge impact on the wheel's traction and force. This in turn affects the speed and mileage. Always ensure that the size of the wheels is within the permissible limits of Honda. Parking sensors The base model and the 1.2 V CVT Honda Brio doesn't come with parking sensors. You can add both front and rear parking sensors to the Brio's bumpers. Local aftermarket parking sensors are cheaper than the Honda-approved ones.
Read MoreThe interior modifications to a Honda Brio can be endless. The entry-level Honda Brio comes with fabric upholstery. You can change that to faux-leather or genuine leather. The latter is hugely expensive and it's advisable to go for Honda-approved options. Local manufacturers, even though they claim, usually don't provide genuine leather. Aftermarket child-seat anchors are also available. Audio system The Honda Brio 1.2 S MT has a 1-Din audio system with Bluetooth and USB. You can replace it with a 7.-inch touchscreen unit. A lot of options are available in the local market. But go for branded units as they are covered under warranty. Audiophiles can add an amplifier and a subwoofer system as well. The sound output of the 1-Din is good enough if you don't care much about the music quality. Ambient lighting None of the Honda Brio models, not even the top-level 1.2 RS Black Top CVT, has ambient lighting. There are many interior lighting systems available in the local market. But these only appeal to the visual appeal of the car and have no bearing on the ride quality. Seat elimination If you want to use the Brio for sports-touring or rally purposes, you can entirely remove the rear seat. You can replace it with a roll cage. This equipment is often used in racing cars to ensure safety of occupants in case of a collision. You can also add a sofa or padded seat to make long road trips more relaxing.
Read MoreAll Honda Brio models come with a turbocharged 1.2-liter, petrol engine. It produces 90PS maximum power and 110 Nm peak torque. The output numbers can be enhanced by using new software to replace the factory-fitted ECU. It leads to faster acceleration, better fuel use, and control of emissions. But modifying a car's engine will void its warranty, unless you do it from the manufacturer itself. But it's always advisable to leave the engine as it is. Besides, engine modifications often cost the earth and make no sense. Avoid overclocking the engine hardware.
