Jeep Grand Cherokee

On the inside too, the Jeep Grand Cherokee manages to look elegant and subtle, if not flashy. The steering wheel is a simple three-spoke unit, with silver accents on buttons for audio, Bluetooth, and cruise control. The instrument console looks quite distinctive with a large rectangular housing the analog dials and an LCD MID screen in between.

The T-shaped centre console is finished in brushed aluminium theme and gets the 8-inch large touchscreen infotainment screen and vertical AC vents beside it. Below the infotainment screen are placed an array of buttons for automatic climate control, which looks quite old school though. The dashboard is wrapped in plush leather upholstery and surely looks and feels very premium.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is big enough to seat five passengers at ease, with cavernous boot space. However, it does miss out on a number of premium comfort and convenience features which are present in the similarly priced German rivals. Nevertheless, the Grand Cherokee is equipped with praiseworthy features like a music system with nine amplified speakers and subwoofer, panoramic sunroof, powered as well as heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and keyless entry with push-button start.

Even after all these years, the Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to be one intimidating SUV to look at. The large dimensions and bold silhouette surely gives it a powerful road presence. However, considering the fact that it is in existence for nearly seven years now with very minimal changes, the Grand Cherokee surely looks a bit dated.

The Grand Cherokee gets the traditional seven-slat vertical grille bathed in chrome, which give it a bold front fascia. The small rectangular headlamps do come with projector units and daytime running lamps.

The side profile of the Grand Cherokee looks just like any other old school SUV – big, brawny, and muscular with sharp angles for A-pillar and side glasses. The squared wheel arches, black cladding below the doors and high ground clearance do mean business. At the same time, the chrome garnish around the glasses, as well as door handles, manages to give it a premium flair as well.

The same traditional SUV styling continues at the rear as well, with the trapezoidal LED tail lamps and large rear windshield giving it a mean stance.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee comes armed with some very premium mechanical hardware, which makes it a great vehicle for cakewalk on off-road terrains. The Quadra-lift air suspension system, as well as Selec-terrain traction management with five different driving modes, does make it capable for the most difficult of all terrains, by altering ride height and suspension dampening.

At the heart of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a choice of two engine options. The list includes front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Enhanced Accident Response System, Front and Rear Park Assist System, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning with crash mitigation

The Jeep Grand Cherokee might be a bit long in the tooth but still makes up for a great vehicle to cruise off the difficult terrains with ease and luxury. The list of comfort, convenience, and safety features do need to be a bit longer, but the supreme build quality, powerful set of engines, and smooth ride quality make up for the shortcoming.
