Mercedes-Benz EQB

The Mercedes-Benz EQB 250 variant for the Philippines features an Electric Art trim level as standard. Its luxurious cabin is wrapped in ARTICO leather upholstery with Cupertino fabric trims, and dual-tone rose gold and titanium pearl inserts. Top-quality soft-touch elements on the dashboard and door panels and ambient lighting only add to the overall luxurious experience in the EQB's cabin. 

The cabin layout of the Mercedes-Benz EQB is very similar to that of the EQA, featuring a wide, full-TFT rectangular cockpit placed behind the multi-functional, leather-wrapped steering wheel that gets haptic touch buttons and silver accents. The full-TFT cockpit has 10.25-inch screens for the instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system, with the cabin having a youthful vibe with the turbine-styled AC vents with rose gold inserts.

The Mercedes-Benz EQB has decent features for its price, including powered front seats with a memory package, comfortable rear seats with armrests, a wireless charger, a 10-speaker audio system, automatic climate control, backlit Illuminated door sills, rear AC vents, and more. However, given its premium positioning, we would have loved to see more features in the cabin. 

The front fascia of the Mercedes-Benz EQB is the same as that of the smaller EQA electric SUV, which makes the EQB look significantly different from the GLB-Class SUV from the front. Featuring a black panel radiator grille with a closed design and a gloss black finish, the GLB has a large tri-star Mercedes-Benz logo with chrome surrounds and an LED light bar running across its upper edge between the headlamps. The headlamps with LED projectors and inverted C-shaped LED DRLs over their upper edges have been shared with the EQA.

From the side, the Mercedes-Benz GLB looks very similar to the GLB-Class SUV on which it is based. It also gets an upright front bonnet, chrome finish for the window beltline that has a kink behind the rear doors, large roof rails and body cladding over wheel arches and lower part of door panels. However, it has a different set of five-spoke 19-inch machined alloy wheels. The rear profile of the Mercedes-Benz EQB looks distinctive over that of the GLB with a unique tail lamp cluster, stretched LED combination tail lamps with enlarged outer extensions, and an LED connecting light bar with C-shaped edges.

The mechanical underpinnings of the Mercedes-Benz EQB are shared with the smaller EQA, including the comfort suspension, which makes the overall ride quality plush and well-sorted. The EQB is also offered with four driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual. While the Mercedes-Benz EQB is positioned as a seven-seater, the space levels in the third row are not very impressive, with the seats in that row best suited only for smaller kids. 

The Mercedes-Benz EQB, like the smaller EQA, has a front-mounted electric motor that produces a maximum power output of 190 bhp and a maximum torque output of 385 Nm. Its 66.5kWh battery, which supports up to 100kW DC fast charging and can deliver a WLTP-certified maximum range of 473 km, is also shared with the EQA. The front-mounted electric motor gives the EQB a top speed of 160 kmph and a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 160 kmph. 

The Mercedes-Benz EQB offers a host of basic safety features and advanced driving aids, such as active speed limit assist, active lane keeping assist, active blind spot assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, electric parking brake, adaptive brake lights, seven airbags, and a 360-degree parking camera. 

The Mercedes-Benz EQB is a practical electric SUV for large families. Its premium and well-appointed cabin is combined with plush ride quality, decent space in all three rows, and luxury features.
