Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class

Like the exterior, the interior of the Mercedes-Benz GLS 350 d AMG Line sold in the Philippines features AMG Line interior as standard, the highlights of which include AMG brushed stainless sport pedals with rubber studs, brushed aluminium trim with light longitudinal grain AMG floor mats and illuminated door sill panels with “Mercedes-Benz” lettering. Mercedes-Benz is offering three different trim levels for the interior upholstery of the GLS 350 d AMG Line – Rough Leather Black, Rough Leather Espresso Brown and Leather Macchiato Beige, all of which feature THERMOTRONIC leather seats.

In addition to this, the cabin is equipped with flashy features like a large panoramic sunroof, 4-zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory function, electrically adjustable rear seats 3rd-row sear for 2 people and ambient lighting. The cabin of the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class comes with tech-rich features as well, including a wireless charger, head-up display and the ever-popular widescreen cockpit with dual 12.3-inch full-TFT displays.

Other comfort and convenience features offered in the GLS-Class include a multifunction steering wheel with flattened bottom and touch control buttons, KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package, powered tailgate and doors, Burmester® surround sound system, LINGUATRONIC with “Hey Mercedes” voice control, cruise control with SPEEDTRONIC variable speed limiter and touchpad.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class in the Philippines is offered in a single variant, which comes with AMG Line trim level as standard. As per this trim level, the GLS-Class features an AMG body styling kit for front and rear bumpers with satin silver faux skid plates, illuminated aluminium-look running boards with rubber studs, aluminium roof rails and 21-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.

Apart from these features, the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is a handsome-looking and well-proportioned SUV. The front fascia of the SUV features MULTIBEAM LED headlights, which also feature sleek LED DRLs within them. The front grille of the SUV also looks massive with horizontal slats within them and a large-sized three-pointed star logo in the middle.

The side profile of the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class looks smoother and has nicely-contoured door panels and front and rear fenders. As a part of the exterior chrome package, which is offered as standard, the GLS-Class features chrome garnish around the windows on the side profile. The SUV also comes with a high ground clearance, electrically-folding exterior mirrors and surround lighting with projection of the brand logo.

At the back, the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class has gloss black air curtains on the sides of the windshield, which also comes with a body-coloured spoiler with integrated brake light above it. The SUV comes with combination tail lamps featuring new-generation LED inserts, along with a chrome strip running across the width of the boot lid from one end of the tail lamps to the other. The rear bumper of the SUV has a brushed aluminium finish for the skid plate as well as exhaust port surrounds.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is a massive SUV with a wheelbase of over three metres, which liberates enough space for all three rows of seats inside. The SUV comes with a Dynamic Select system with an AIRMATIC package, which manages to keep the ride quality on the softer side without compromising on driving dynamics.

The only engine option available for the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel engine, which is available with the standard transmission option of a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This engine produces 286 bhp of maximum power and 600 Nm of maximum torque while being offered with multiple drive modes. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100 kmph sprint timing of 7 seconds and a fuel efficiency of 14 kmpl for the GLS 350 d AMG Line.

The extensive list of safety features offered in the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class includes Active Parking Assist, a 360-degree camera, seven airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR), Safety Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) Electronic Traction System for all-wheel drive (4ETS), Active Brake Assist (BAS) and Hill-start assist.

For a safer driving experience, the GLS-Class also has adaptive brake lights, flashing ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, PRE-SAFE system Seatbelts with comfort fit function, tyre pressure loss warning system and cruise control

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 350 d AMG Line, which is offered as the sole variant of the GLS-Class SUV in the Philippines, is a good mix of flamboyance and practicality. While it has all the goodies and richness of a Mercedes-Benz, it also offers the flexibility and utility of a three-row SUV for families.
