Dont Be Misled By the Exterior Looks
I bought a Suzuki jimny (3 door variant for sure) about 3 years ago. I was kind of impressed by its look when it was introduced to the Philippine market. Immediately I noticed the following while the car was still brand new - just few days after vehicle was released: 1. Tin can sound of hard rain on the roofing. The interior insulation can not isolate this tin can sound of raindrops hitting the roof 2. Missing the center console arm rest to rest the right arm while driving. Though I bought something from Shopee for this. 3. Much cheap plastic materials around in the interior like the door trims 4. Bare functionalities on the instrument cluster. (There is no TPMS, no variable wiper speed adjust, infotainment not grea, parking brake is still the oldest manual one....etc) 5. Infotainment sounds is quite far from my expectation for the money that i pay for this vehicle. 6. To me vehicle pricing is quite expensively priced compared to the overall value of the vehicle I think (my conclusion after getting to experience actual vehicle) After the third year of driving my Jimny at 11K kms on the odo. I can only share to you ff: 1. The front tires seems to degrade unevenly on the outer side/part and is not the same wear and tear effect on the rear tires 2. The Y connector for the windshield washer got brittle and was broken. as consequence, windshield washer liquid goes out in the mid portion just below the windshield everytime i operate the windshield washer function. 3. The plastic tool box at the rear portion got broken by frequent open and closing due to the second row back seats movements. This one Suzuki has no spare. I think it is very poorly designed compartment. 4. The front speakers rattle at a certain volume level. and becomes too disruptive and annoying when operating the radio while driving. Now service adviser tell me to change the 2 front speakers at 2,699Php per piece. 5. The entertainment display had hung up and lost displays so many times and i had to reboot it by turning the keys off and turning it on again. 6. The Service Advisor in my dealer location seems to be always new and doesnt know the basics of the vehicle. 7. For me, this vehicle is never economical on the gas. It averages 8Kms/li for my city driving with this 1.5L engine and to me that is below expectation no matter how I inflate the tires (I am on a 45psi inflation for all 4 tires). I know diffrent traffic and driving conditions but I readily compare this to my existing vehicles which is able to get higher (12-13 kms/li) than this rate. Of course I am still driving it now because i love the looks. But I am seriously thinking to sell this vehicle now only after 3 years. But I share my own personal experience so you dont get misled on the vehicle quality side. I own 2 other vehicles (the Jimny is my third personal car) but i have never experienced these kind of vehicle handicaps for those other vehicles, even if they are small and insignificant but they are important to me.
DesignBoxy and rugged type. Looks like the smaller version of the Jeep
ComfortNothing extraordinary for the comfort feature for this vehicle. Airconditioning works and is good but the seats a bit small and the drive is very ordinary.
PerformanceMaybe it is just me comparing to my Montero but I find this vehicle sluggish and uneconomical to the gas
SafetyNo Safety Belt warning for the 2nd row passengers. Not really good
DealerVery good Dealer service extended to me when I purchased my vehicle. All support was provided to me to release vehicle as promised on the date of release
Road Trip ExperienceVery sluggish and not so economical on the gas for me
Service CenterNot so knowledgeable about the vehicle. Always "no spare part available" remark
Buying JourneyNot so happy after 3 years of owneship. It is mainly because of vehicle service and vehicle performance itself.
Car ComparisonUnfortunately I won a Mini and 2 Montero Sport. So then I can not help but compare it readily with my experience for those vehicles. People always tell me it is not comparable but many aspects like Service, vehicle performance, interior quality and parts quality is very much comparable.
