Recent Updates of Dzire

How many variants are there in the Suzuki Dzire?

There are three variants of the Suzuki Dzire in the Philippines car market: GA, GL, and GL+. All three variants come standard with a petrol engine, but the GL+ variant is exclusively available with an automated manual transmission instead of the manual transmission of the GA and GL variants.

How much is the price of the Suzuki Dzire in the Philippines?

Suzuki has priced the Dzire very competitively, which undercuts many of the hatchbacks in the Philippines car market. The base-spec GA variant costs PHP 609,000, whereas the mid-spec GL variant costs PHP 758,000. The top-spec GL+ variant costs PHP 819,000. All these prices make the Suzuki Dzire the most affordable sedan one can buy in the Philippines.

Which is the most value-for-money variant of the Suzuki Dzire?

Considering the not-so-large premium it charges over the mid-spec GL variant for its added benefits, the top-spec GL+ variant of the Suzuki Dzire is the best variant you can place your bet on. The GL+ variant gets a touchscreen infotainment system with offline navigation over the GL variant while retaining all the creature comforts of the GL variant. It also offers the added convenience of an automated manual transmission (AMT), making city driving a breeze. However, the GL variant can make more sense for you if you prefer a conventional manual transmission over an AMT and can live without a touchscreen infotainment system.

What features does the Suzuki Dzire get?

Compared to the India-spec version of the Suzuki Dzire, the Philippines-spec version of the compact sedan misses many new-age features. No variant of the Suzuki Dzire comes with projector headlamps and LED DRLs, with all variants of the Dzire getting halogen headlamps as standard. The GL and GL+ variants also get chrome garnish around the grille and bumper corners, with the GL+ getting rounded fog lamps.

The GL+ is also the only variant that gets the option of 15-inch alloy wheels. In contrast, the GL and GL+ variants have body-coloured door handles and outside rearview mirrors with integrated turn indicators and electrical adjustability. On the inside, the Suzuki Dzire has a black-themed interior as standard, with a 1-DIN audio system in GA, a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth in GL and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with offline navigation in the GL+ variant.

The steering wheel has audio controls in the GL and GL+ variants and Bluetooth controls in the GL+ variant. The GL and GL+ variants also have rear AC vents for the added comfort of rear passengers.

How spacious is it?

Based on the Swift hatchback, the Suzuki Dzire feels roomier than the former, with more comfort-oriented seats and better cabin space for the rear occupants. The Dzire has a length of 3,995mm, a width of 1,735mm, and a height of 1,515mm. While the 2,450mm wheelbase helps give the Dzire more knee room and legroom for rear passengers, the 378-litre boot compartment is spacious enough for storing two to three suitcases with ease.

What engine and transmission options are available?

All Suzuki Dzire variants get a tried-and-tested 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine under their hoods, which has been shared with the Swift hatchback. Paired with a 5-speed manual in GA and GL variants and a 5-speed AMT in the GL+ variant, this petrol engine produces 83 PS of maximum power output and 113 Nm of maximum torque output.

What’s the mileage of the Suzuki Dzire?

Suzuki claims a mileage of 22 kmpl for both manual and automatic variants of the Dzire. However, the compact sedan delivers a decent fuel efficiency of 12-15 kmpl in daily city traffic conditions.

How safe is the Suzuki Dzire?

The standard safety features available in all three variants of the Suzuki Dzire are dual front airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, brake assist, and engine immobiliser. The additional safety features are reverse parking sensors in the GA and GL variants, and hill hold control in the top-spec GL+ variant.

How many colour options are there?

Suzuki offers many colour options for the Dzire, with the compact sedan available in Pearl Arctic White, Premium Silver, Bluish Black Pearl, Magma Grey, Prime Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown Pearl, and Phoenix Red Pearl.

Should you buy the 2024 Suzuki Dzire?

At its current price, no other car offers the same value-for-money quotient as the Suzuki Dzire. This compact sedan from Suzuki is more affordable than many other hatchbacks and, surprisingly, even cheaper than Suzuki’s smaller ones like Celerio and Swift.

The overall design, cabin layout, and quality might not be too premium, but they get the job done. The tried-and-tested petrol engine has already stood the test of time with its class-leading reliability and fuel efficiency. And being a sedan, the Dzire doesn’t compromise on space levels and ride quality, which are more than sufficient for a car of its class.

What are my alternatives?

The Suzuki Dzire belongs to the entry-level compact car segment, which offers several other options, including the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, Kia Soluto, MG 5, Volkswagen Santana, and Changan Alsvin. The higher variants compete with slightly larger compact sedans like the Honda City, Toyota Vios, and Nissan Almera.

Other things to consider

While the Suzuki Dzire scores high on practicality, it might not be the most premium sedan in its class. Its under-four-metre length also curbs its road presence. For a more premium and wholesome sedan experience, you can opt for larger offerings like the Honda City, Nissan Almera, and Toyota Vios. These cars are priced slightly higher but offer a bigger car appeal with more space, performance, and size.

And if you can stretch your budget, you also have the option to choose from a host of newer compact SUVs. They are the flavour of the season, with more people opting for their better road presence and better ability to take on bad roads.

Suzuki Dzire Interior & Features

Compared to the India-specific Suzuki Dzire, which comes with a more premium dual-tone black and beige interior with faux wood inserts, the Philippines-spec model has an all-black layout for the cabin with contrast silver accents, much like the cabin of the Swift hatchback. The cabin layout is decent, and the quality of panels and components inside, though the cabin looks slightly pared down in terms of features.

The Suzuki Dzire has a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which is tilt adjustable and has a conventional twin-pod analogue instrument console with a 4.2-inch TFT MID in between them. The symmetric centre console has trapezoidal housing for the AC vents at the top, below which there is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and manual controls for the AC. The co-passenger side of the dashboard has a contrast silver line spread horizontally, while the rest of the cabin is equipped decently with power windows, rear AC vents and driver seat height adjustment.

Dzire Exterior

Unlike the previous two generations of the Suzuki Dzire, this third-generation model has an individualistic exterior design over the Swift, on which it is based. This more significant attempt at making the Dzire look different from the Swift has paid Suzuki well, for this compact sedan now looks more proportionate and premium than ever before.

The front profile of the Suzuki Dzire has a large hexagonal grille in the middle, which extends to the bottom of the front bumper and comes with chrome surrounds. For the Philippines market, the Suzuki Dzire comes with a halogen setup for the sweptback headlamps. The rounded halogen fog lamps at the lower corners of the front bumper also have L-shaped chrome garnish over the inner edges of their surrounds.

The side profile of the Suzuki Dzire now looks much better styled than those of the previous two generations of the car, for the boot compartment now looks like a seamlessly integrated part of the car and not an afterthought. The front fenders have a smooth contour over them, which flows towards the line of alignment of the door handles. The Dzire comes with body-coloured door handles and rearview mirrors, turn indicators integrated into the rearview mirrors and 15-inch alloy wheels.

At the back, the Suzuki Dzire has a wide-looking design for the boot compartment, which has a rounded upper surface, with a long chrome bar below it which is spread across the width of the boot lid, connecting the large-sized tail lamps. While the Suzuki Dzire misses out on shark fin antenna, it does come with LED inserts in the tail lamps and defogger lines.

Suzuki Dzire Ride & Handling

The Suzuki Dzire comes with a suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, with a slightly softer setup for the springs to keep the ride quality on the softer side. The 15-inch wheels and a low ground clearance of 145mm give the Suzuki Dzire a well-planted stance of a conventional sedan and also help it in being stable at higher speeds.

Dzire Engine & Fuel Consumption

All three variants of the Suzuki Dzire are powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which claims a maximum power output of 83 PS and a peak torque output of 113 Nm. The GA MT and GL MT variants have a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the GLP AGS gets a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Suzuki Dzire Braking & Safety

The bare-basic safety equipment list of the Suzuki Dzire includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and electronic stability control, with the top-spec GLP AGS variant also getting hill hold control in addition.

Dzire Verdict

The Suzuki Dzire excels in being an affordable and practical entry-level car for the masses, with the sedan scoring highly in space, fuel efficiency, reliability, and ease of driving.
