  • About Volvo Philippines

    Tagged as the safest automotive brand in the world, Volvo Car Corporation was the brainchild of SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken). Inaugurated on April 14, 1927, the company was found as a roller-bearing manufacturing company. The brand had its very first car which went by the name Jakob in the year 1927.  

    The company that has been known for its innovations was directed by Industrialist Assar Thorvald Nathanael Gabrielsson and the post of Technical director was given to automotive engineer Erik Gustaf Larson 

    Through the years, Volvo has undergone a lot of improvements, that range from going through a change in management and ownership that was given to Ford Motor Company’s Premier Automotive Group in 2008 to Volvo’s acquisition by Chinese automaker Geely Automobile in 2009. No matter what happened with the transfer of ownership, the brand had always stayed true to its quality and commitment over safety.

    As the founder and developers of seat belts, Volvo has enjoyed the limelight on a global scale ever since its introduction to the market. However, it was not only the road vehicles that Volvo was interested in, but the brand also took active in Rally racing in the year 1965.

    In the Philippines, Volvo has been imported and distributed by the Scandinavian Motors Corporation, a 100% Filipino-owned company, since 1994. With its HQ located along Don Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City, Volvo Cars Philippines prides itself with range-topping models that have exemplified automotive excellence in safety.
