Honda Genio Design
The Honda Genio is one of those entry-level scooters which despite its affordable price point manages to catch your attention with the way it looks. The scooter features retro design theme, and thanks to the inclusion of a couple of new features, it now feels slightly modern as well.
The front profile of the Honda Genio might look odd and awkward to some, as the headlight has got a very offbeat positioning at the upper portion of the front apron, which makes it look one of a kind from the front.
This time around, the headlamp is an LED unit and is flanked with sleek vertical turn indicators, which too are positioned on the upper corners of the apron. The handlebar cowl is a small unit, whereas the round themed front apron gets two small slats at the lower centre.
Honda has styled the Genio in a simpler fashion on the sides, with the curvy side body panels having am edgy point towards front. The footboard feels wide and ergonomic, but might feel a bit cramped and ergonomic for taller riders, with knees scraping towards the apron.
At the back, the Honda Genio has a slanting body panel on which are positioned very small units of the tail lamp and turn indicators on its sides, along with a large single unit pillion grab rail. Speaking of the seat, it feels wide enough, with a decent under seat storage space.
And it’s not only the underseat storage compartment but a small space in the inner rack in the front apron as well which makes storing small things quite handy. With features like external fuel filler, key shutter mechanism, and smartphone charging, the Honda Genio does feel a bit trendy and modern now.
The Honda Genio has got a very interesting and offbeat instrument comes, which is shaped as a round black unit with a small rectangular LCD panel in between which displays speedometer, odometer, trip meters, and clock. While it does look quite simple yet cool, it is not too legible to read at all times.
Genio Ride & Handling
The Honda Genio has got very basic roots with the suspension setup of telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock unit at the rear, just like in all entry-level conventional scooters. What does work in favour of the Honda Genio is its light kerb weight of just 89 kgs, which not only give the scooter an impressive power to weight ratio, but also make it a very light scooter to handle and manoeuvre.
Honda Genio Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Honda Genio is powered by a simple entry-level four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 110cc engine coupled to a full transistorised CVT gearbox. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 9.0 PS and a peak torque output of 9.3 Nm, which factoring in the petite size and light kerb weight of the Genio, gives the scooter good performance levels. With a fuel tank capacity of just 4.2 litres, the Honda Genio is restricted to just urban commutes and not longer runs.
Genio Braking & Safety
With just a disc brake at the front sans the ABS and a drum at the rear, the Honda Genio might not have a sophisticated braking setup. However, with bits like secured key shutter mechanism with seat opener park brake lock, tubeless tires, and side stand switch, the list of safety features isn’t that bare bones.
Honda Genio Verdict
With feature updates and slightly revised styling, the Honda Genio has got much more appealing and premium than ever before, with increasing levels of desirability. The chic and unique styling is as impressive as ever before, and the mechanically sorted powertrain and suspension do make the things even more interesting.
