Honda revolutionised public mobility with the launch of the Honda Super Cub and the Wave 110 R bears that same torch today. Honda’s formula perfectly blends versatility, practicality, and affordability and remains unmatched despite numerous copies. The Wave was launched by Honda in its many avatars as a replacement and a successor to the Super Cub legacy and has served that role very well. The Wave 110R aims at being a sportier version of the Wave. Honda sells it in two variants differentiated by whether it comes equipped with a disc or a drum brake. Power comes from a Euro 3 compliant 109.17 cc air-cooled engine that churns out 7.57 PS and 8.54 Nm of torque and is mated to a 4-speed transmission. Honda has also given the bike some style with funky Filipino colors, lighting with integrated indicators, and sporty leg shields and pillion footstep.

The underbone segment is quite popular in our country. Owing to the fact that two-wheelers falling under this category are easy on the pocket and fulfil the requirements of the masses who need to travel through the narrow streets and heavy traffic areas of the town. This is why Honda has got a slew of products in the underbone category. One of its popular offerings is the Wave 110 R. The all-new Wave 110 R is a sportier version of the standard Wave 110. It features a 110 cc Euro-3 compliant engine that promises to offer great fuel efficiency. Honda has also introduced a set of new colors to freshen up things a bit. The Wave 110 R carries a price tag of Php 56,900.
Honda Wave110R Design
As we mentioned earlier, the underbone segment is quite popular, and hence, very vast. Therefore, it’s important for the manufacturers to provide interesting features and elements in their products so that they can be differentiated from the others. The new Honda Wave 110 R has been given a few treatments to make it a bit more appealing to the customers, especially the youth.
The biggest change in the way the Wave 110 R looks is the availability of new colors. There are 5 color options - Red, Grey, Orange, Purple, and Green - and all of them come with a two-tone scheme with black being common. The leg shield on the Wave 110 R is quite stylish and is detachable. Honda has relocated the turn indicators from the leg shield and placed them near the headlight. There’s a new sporty muffler that is very shiny, thanks to the chrome treatment. It also has a protector.
The rear of the Wave 110 R features an integrated tail light that houses the turn indicators as well. The entire assembly is better-looking than that we’ve seen on the standard model. Other interesting features that we get to see on the new Wave 110 R include a sporty alloy pillion step, full chain case, and a new informative meter panel.
Wave110R Ride & Handling
The fact that the Honda Wave 110 R weighs only 94 kg (dry), makes it an easily maneuverable machine. Filtering through traffic is a breeze on this underbone. With a seat height of 769 mm, the riding stance is very relaxing and upright, thus, moving through the busy streets of the city wouldn’t tire you out that quickly as there’s hardly any strain on your back and wrists.
The suspension duties on the Wave 110 R are handled by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. They work in unison to provide a comfortable ride quality.
Honda Wave110R Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the Honda Wave 110 R is a 109.17cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 7.57 PS of max power at 7,500 rpm and generates a peak torque of 8.54 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The power and torque figures don’t sound much but they seem to be sufficient to help the bike serve its purpose. Combining the fuel efficiency of the engine and the fuel tank capacity of 3.7-litre, the Wave 110 R can crunch up quite a distance before needing a refill.
Wave110R Braking & Safety
Apart from the looks and new colors, another area where the Honda Wave 110 R is different from the standard Wave 110 is the braking department. It comes with a disc brake at the front which enhances the braking capabilities of the bike by a good margin. The front and rear tires are of sizes 70/90 - 17 M/C 38P and 80/90 - 17 M/C 50P respectively, aiding in providing the required traction while braking. Also, the lightweight of the Wave 110 R makes it easier to stop.
Honda Wave110R Verdict
The new Honda Wave 110 R gets a host of changes to make it that much more appealing, and it continues to have the reliable single-cylinder engine. Honda has also improved the braking performance on the new model. Considering the Honda Wave 110 R price of Php 56,900, we would say that it’s a better deal over the standard model.
