The Kawasaki Versys X is considered as one of the best adventure bikes in the Philippines and it can run on any road. It was first revealed at the 2016 EICMA show and just after a little while, it was launched globally.
Among the Versys series from Kawasaki, the Versys X is the smallest displacement model and falls behind its siblings - the Versys 1000 and Versys 650. It is also the smallest adventure touring bike.
The bike comes with a comfortable ergonomics and long suspension travel, both of which make the long range driving comfortable. With the assist and a slipper clutch, handling the adventure bike will be very easy for the riders.
Kawasaki Versys X Design
The Kawasaki Versys X comes with a large volume bodywork and the adventure styling that it has is pretty impressive. The rugged look of the bike makes it stand out from the crowd of other street-focused competing models.
The two-wheeler comes with a large and vertical windscreen along with knuckle guards at the front. The seat are larger and more comfortable than most of the models in the range. It rides on a 19-inch wheel on the front, while the rear side gets a 17-inch wheel.
Versys X Ride & Handling
The Kawasaki Versys X comes with all the features to be a road trip friendly as well as act as a dual sport. It gets an upright riding position along with a wide handlebar, which makes the handling the bike on long distances better. The position is comfortable for every kind of rider, be it very tall or mediocre. Moreover, it also comes with an element-shielding and insect-killing windscreen.
Generally, the performance twins have an issue with the heat management. But Kawasaki has reflected on the issue and rectified it by offering its own Air Management System. It helps to channel the hot air away from the rider.
Speaking of the suspensions, the two-wheeler comes with 41 mm Showa telescopic forks at the front while the rear section gets Uni-Trak gas-charged adjustable shock. The front fork provides the much-needed comfort while riding through different situations.
Kawasaki Versys X Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Kawasaki Versys X derives the power from a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, Parallel Twin engine which is good enough in the segment. The dual-cylinder, 296 cc engine is capable of producing up to 39.8 horsepower which comes at 11,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 25.7 Nm at 10,000 rpm.
The transmission duties of the motorcycle are done by a 6-speed manual gearbox. Just like the two-wheeler’s high displacement variants, the motorcycle features an assist as well as the slipper clutch.
It is an adventurer motorbike, which means it will be good to ride in untamed roads as well as in the cities. As the maximum power and torque, both come at a very high rev range. Hence, the throttle needs to be twisted more to achieve at the top speed.
Versys X Braking & Safety
As for the braking, the Kawasaki Versys X is equipped with a 290 mm disc brake at the front wheel, while the rear wheel stops with a 220 mm disc brake. Both the brakes come with 2-piston brake callipers. However, the brakes do not feature ABS or anti-lock braking system. As the maximum speed of the adventure bike is not that high, the initial bite and the progressive nature makes for an amazing stopping power.
As a part of the safety equipment, the two-wheeler gets Pass Switch as well as Engine Check Warning.
Kawasaki Versys X Verdict
The Kawasaki Versys X comes with a price tag of PHP 270,000 which is pretty good for an adventure bike. It gets a tough competition for the G310 GS from BMW Motorrad. The G310 GS has slightly less power than the Versys X while the torque is higher.
