Abhishek Katariya says
Kawasaki has become quite popular owing to its retro designs that are truly hard to find, especially the ones that match the performance perfectly. However, when it launched the new Z 650 RS model, the same retro essence was uplifted by so many levels. First of all, the bike is more of a vintage piece, with almost all its features screaming the uniqueness that lies in the old technologies and designs. Secondly, it is available at a much more affordable rate in the Philippines, which is certainly a plus point. So, having it for cruising along the city roads won’t be a bad option, especially when riders want to experience the thrill and exhilaration of a monstrous retro bike.

Kawasaki Z650RS Design
The Z 650 RS bike from Kawasaki is the true manifestation of vintage design coupled with a retro finish. From the curved retro engine sitting right at the front to the double analog meters in the instrumentation cluster, almost every other feature will remind the riders of how it feels to sit on a vintage bike from eras ago.
To say it creates nostalgia would be an understatement. Coming to the chassis, the frame is painted with a matte black color coupled with silver-grey accents in metallic form. The wonderful winged design with black and red shades highlights the engine’s peculiar shape pretty well.
The wheelbase of 1410 mm provides excellent stability to the bike, especially when riders are travelling at low speeds or want to corner with the highest engine torque. Additionally, the higher seats provide a better height advantage that one can use to enjoy the entire ride easily. The circular headlamp is made from the white LED for emitting brighter and wider illumination. On the contrary, the tail lamp is positioned strategically to help riders steer cautiously on the busy Filipino streets.
Z650RS Ride & Handling
To provide maximum comfort to the riders, Kawasaki has stepped up its game in form of the suspension systems. The front face of the bike is equipped with the usual telescopic fork. It provides optimal rigidity to the frame, ensuring that riders can achieve the top acceleration without worrying about losing control over its maneuverability.
Furthermore, it also dampens the vibrations and absorbs shocks to keep the chassis safe. The rear end, however, is equipped with a horizontal back-link suspension. It is known for its efficient performance and better handling power for the bike’s rigid frame and overall stability.
Kawasaki Z650RS Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Z 650 RS model from Kawasaki might have a retro-styled vintage design. But it doesn’t mean the engine too delivers fickle performance. Powered by a 4-stroke SOHC engine, it has parallel twin cylinders. This particular configuration is known for reducing the overall weight of the bike and delivering better performance with higher efficiency as the displacement capacity of 649cc is divided equivalently.
So, it is pretty safe to say that the engine can produce a maximum power of 67.3 hp at 8000 rpm and torque of 65.7 Nm at 6500 rpm. Riders will fly along the roads once the engine comes to life, without worrying about any stillness in its performance.
Furthermore, the 12 L of fuel tank is efficiently utilized, thanks to the enhanced fuel economy. In other words, the engine doesn’t use too much fuel for a specific combustion cycle, which is one of the many reasons riders can go on long drives with Kawasaki Z 650 RS. The liquid cooling system extends the overall lifetime of the engine, ensuring all the mechanical parts are well-protected from any sort of thermal damage.
Z650RS Braking & Safety
The Z 650 RS model from Kawasaki is equipped with disc brakes on either end to provide absolute braking power and ensure the stopping distance is reduced to a minimal value. In other words, the bike will come to rest almost immediately, without moving any further.
Additionally, the presence of ABS allows the wheels to roll continuously unless the brakes are applied. The model comes with a check engine light to let riders know if there is something wrong with the mechanics or not. On top of everything, the model comes with side reflectors to help riders drive in low light and dark conditions.
Kawasaki Z650RS Verdict
Z 650 RS model from Kawasaki is ideal for riders looking forward to ride on a retro-styled vintage bike but not by compromising the efficiency and performance. From having analog instrument cluster to an impeccable engine output deliverability, it is certainly an investment worthy of consideration.
