Keeway RCS 125

Compared to its other cub class bikes which do have a noticeable amount of bodywork, Keeway has decided to make the RCS 125 even more minimalist.

The sense of minimalism on the Keeway RCS 125 is most evident in its front fascia, as the bike comes with a very simple and small looking front headlamp. This bulging out headlamp is surrounded in a silver and black cowl, and has a tiny visor on its upper portion. The front fender is positioned in its conventional manner of just above the front tyre, while the front forks do get rubber padding.

The side profile of the Keeway RCS 125 has a conventional design of a cub class bike, with a Y-shaped midway body panel which hides the fuel tank within it. The dual tone body graphics do add a touch of sportiness to the design, while the small air scoops on the sides is a thoughtful touch as well. Adding a bit more sportiness is a small engine cowl ahead of the engine, which is fully exposed at the bottom. The engine, as well as exhaust pipe, is finished in black, and it comes with both the options of a kick as well as an electric starter.

The rear side body panels of the Keeway RCS 125 too come with the same set of dual tone body graphics, which are quite loud and give the bike a racy appeal. The split pillion grab rails is another feature which makes it look youthful, while the small tail lamp cluster at the rear is nice to look as well.

The instrument console of the Keeway RCS 125 is pretty comprehensive for a bike of this class, as it comes with a digital speedometer, odometer, tachometer and a semi-digital fuel gauge. Even the rearview mirrors are wide and provide nice rear visibility.

The Keeway RCS 125 is armed with conventional mechanical hardware of an underbone frame as well as a set of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a pair of hydraulic coil springs at the rear. The ride quality is pretty smooth, and thanks to the presence of 17-inch alloy wheels at both the ends, it is very easy to handle this light weighted bike as well. The kerb weight of 98kgs plays a major role here in making the riding dynamics pretty easy and user-friendly. Here too, the presence of a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear gives the RCS 125 a decent braking feedback as well.

Powering the Keeway RCS 125 is a small four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted, 124.8cc engine. This engine is mated to a standard 4-speed gearbox and pumps out a maximum power output of 8.8 PS and a peak torque output of 9.5 Nm. These figures, if you account in the light kerb weight of 98kgs, gives the RCS 125 a zesty performance, which is quite essential for quick motoring in urban conditions.

As expected from a commuter-oriented cub class bike, the RCS 125 is not equipped with a sufficient amount of safety features. However, despite its affordable positioning, the presence of a front disc brake is quite a welcoming feature.

The Keeway RCS 125 is a decent solution for those people who are looking out for a minimalist, small and light weighted bike which is low on price but high on character. The bike might look small, but it is sporty enough to catch one’s attention thanks to its youthful design. The performance from its 125cc engine is quite quick, while the handling is praiseworthy as well.
