Keeway RCX 125 Design
As said above, the RCX 125 is an off-road version of the RCS 125, most of which is quite evident in its visual appeal. The rugged bits here and there make the RCX 125 more purposeful over the already distinctive looking RCS 125.
At the front, the bulging out headlamp of the RCS 125 is replaced by a more conventional looking angular headlamp which is integrated within an angular bikini fairing. Just below the headlamp is placed the large front fender, which gives the front fascia a rugged appeal. The RCX 125 gets a more rugged front tyre as well.
The side profile of the RCX 125 shares a lot with the RCS 125 when it comes to body panels. The RCX 125 gets the same Y-shaped floorboard panels, side body cowls and the single piece long padded seat as seen on the RCS 125. However, the body panels here come with a different set of body graphics. As on the RCS 125, the engine, as well as the single piece exhaust pipe, are finished in black.
At the rear as well, the RCX 125 shares it premium looking tail lamp cluster, as well as the split pillion, grab rails with the RCS 125, however, the rear fender is slightly shorter in length here. The rider’s cockpit here on the RCX 125 gets handlebar crash guards placed ahead of the levers. The instrument console too is a straight lift-off from the RCS 125, with analog speedometer, odometer, tachometer, and a semi-digital fuel gauge. The rear view mirrors are all new here, and they provide very good rear visibility too.
RCX 125 Ride & Handling
The off-road bits on the RCX 125 are not just for making visual differences with the RCS 125 – there’s more than what meets the eye. The RCX 125 gets the same hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a pair of hydraulic coil springs at the rear, however, here, they are tuned in a softer setup. The bike also gets rugged off-road tyres, thus providing better grip levels over worse tarmacs. The braking setup, however, is the same as that on the RCS 125, with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
Keeway RCX 125 Engine & Fuel Consumption
At the heart of the Keeway RCX 125 is the same small four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted, 124.8cc engine, which does its duty on the RCS 125. Needless to say, the engine is retained here in the same state of tune, with the mill developing a maximum power output of 8.8PS and a peak torque output of 9.5Nm. Mated to a four-speed gearbox, this engine offers quick performance, a slight credit of which goes to the light kerb weight of just 99kgs, thus translating into a worthy power to weight ratio.
RCX 125 Braking & Safety
The RCX 125, being an entry level club class bike, misses out on many sophisticated safety features. However, the bike comes with handlebar crash guards in order to protect the rider’s hands, in case of a frontal impact. Also, the presence of a front disc brake is quite reassuring in case of emergency braking situations.
Keeway RCX 125 Verdict
With the added features and off-road visual appeal over the RCS 125, the RCX 125 is a more purposeful machine to look. The off-road design bits definitely add to the already distinctive looking design of the RCX 125, making it a head turner. In addition to it, the performance from its 125cc mill as well as suspension setup gives the RCX 125 the riding dynamics of motorcycles, something which is quite rare for a cub class bike of this category.
