Kymco KRV 180i DDS Design

Inspired by the design of larger and more expensive Japanese and European maxi-scooters, the Kymco KRV 180i TCS has hit the ball out of the park with its appearance. With the right proportions and sharp lines, the overall design of the Kymco KRV 180i TCS looks very sporty and attractive.

From the front, the Kymco KRV 180i TCS looks aggressive, with the lower part of the front profile having an angular-looking dual-LED headlamp that sits within a sharp-looking dual-tone front apron. The upper part of the front profile has a small blacked-out visor, which has a couple of air slats integrated into it. Though, it is not too effective in restricting wind blasts at higher speeds.

The side profile of the Kymco KRV 180i TCS looks as sharp as the front profile, with it being one of the few entry-level maxi-scooters to get a flat floorboard instead of split floorboards with central tunnel seen in many of its rivals. The sleek-looking side body panels also have a dual-tone treatment, with the scooter getting Z-themed side extensions of the front apron.

The Kymco KRV 180i TCS also has a short-sized exhaust pipe with a silver tip, while having a small radiator placed beside it. Riding on 13-inch black alloy wheels, the KRV 180i TCS also has split pillion grab rails, a long and stepped seat and a motorcycle-like handlebar.

Towards the rear, the Kymco KRV 180i TCS has a high-rised tail section, with the scooter having a split design of the LED tail lamp positioned at the top of the tail section. The tiny tail section of the scooter also comes with LED turn indicators and a functional tyre hugger over the rear wheel.

Another element of the Kymco KRV 180i TCS adding a dose of funkiness to it is its fully digital hexagonal instrument console, which packs in a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, odometer and trip meters. The handlebar of the scooter also has a secondary trapezoidal housing, which has warning lights. The Kymco KRV 180i TCS  has a capacious storage compartment of 25 litres and keyless ignition, though the build quality and fit and finish levels aren’t as top-notch as its Japanese and European rivals.

KRV 180i DDS Ride & Handling

Along with the maxi-scooter-inspired design, the Kymco KRV 180i TCS also behaves like one when it comes to delivering a balanced ride quality. Bestowed with a suspension combination of telescopic forks at the front and a unit swingarm with mono-shock at the rear, the Kymco KRV 180i TCS delivers a plush ride and feels comfortable and easy to manoeuvre even at slower city speeds, despite its extensive bodywork. The 13-inch alloy wheels of KRV 180i TCS have a 110/70-13 tyre at the front and a 130/70-13 tyre at the rear, with the scooter getting a 270mm disc at the front and a 234mm disc at the rear for braking.

Kymco KRV 180i DDS Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Kymco KRV 180i TCS gets a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 175.1cc engine. Paired with a traditional belt-driven transmission, this engine produces a maximum power output of 17.03 PS and a maximum torque output of 15.68 Nm, giving it the performance advantage over conventional 150-160cc performance scooters.

KRV 180i DDS Braking & Safety

With advanced features like dual-channel ABS, traction control, and keyless ignition, the Kymco KRV 180i TCS feels nicely equipped for a mass-oriented performance scooter.

Kymco KRV 180i DDS Verdict

The Kymco KRV 180i TCS lacks the finesse of its Japanese rivals when it comes to fit and finish levels and reliability, but the overall snazzy design, long list of features and energetic performance do give it a sporty character and make it feel like a premium scooter.
