Kymco Super Z 150 8 Series Review 2024
Kymco is a well-known two-wheeler manufacturer in the Philippines market and has an array of products ranging from motor scooters, motorcycles, and ATVs. The Taiwanese manufacturer is known in the local market for producing outstanding scooters specifically designed for the daily commuters. Kymco had a range of 125cc scooters in the Philippines market which was recently upgraded with the launch of the Super Z 150 8 Series, which comes with the fuel-injection system. The 150cc engine is much powerful and torquier than its 125cc predecessor. The Super Z retains its distinct European styling from the 125cc version, although there are a few upgrades which feature in the latest 150cc version. The company has put special emphasis on mobility, connectivity, stability, comfort, and modernity while designing the Super Z 150. Its cutting-edge design gives emphasis on the seamless flow of lines on all sides and angles. Some of the stand out features of the scooter includes front fairing compartments, cleverly placed fuel filling cap, helmet/luggage hook, and a waterproof USB port which add to the usability and comfort of the Super Z 150. The FI system provides that extra punch to its engine and the scooter can easily cross the 100kmph speed mark, without any stress. The company claims it can return a mileage of 25kmpl. There are three colour schemes available - Light Blue Matte, Flat Red, and Shining Orange. The Super Z 150 Fi 8 series comes with a price tag of Php 83,900.
Kymco Super Z 150 8 Series Design
The Kymco Super Z 150 flaunts a sporty, elegant design. The front apron houses the large twin headlamps, below which there’s a sharp mudguard. The handlebar is not too long, but of an appropriate length, which holds the two rear-view mirrors. There’s a seamless flow of lines and edges that flow from the front to the sides of the scooter. The footboard is also roomy and there are two spacious front fairing compartments, accessible fuel filling cap, luggage hooks, and a discretely placed water-proof USB port. The saddle is both long and wide to provide comfort to the rider as well as the pillion during short or long rides. The rear section features a grab rail, tail light, and sharp turn-key indicators. The storage capacity of the Super Z 150 Fi is pretty decent and is big enough to fit a good-sized helmet or bringing your daily load for work. The black-colored alloy wheels also add to the visual appeal of the Super Z 150 and fit well within the overall design language. The instrument console is an analog one, with better visibility, and displays information through a speedometer, trip meter, and fuel gauge.
Super Z 150 8 Series Ride & Handling
The Super Z 150 is specifically built to cater to daily commuting needs. It is perfect for both long rides and zipping through city traffic, owing to its nimble handling. With a length of 1930mm, wheelbase of 1310mm and a dry weight of 114kgs, the Super Z 150 offers a very smooth handling experience. Suspension setup comprises of conventional telescopic front forks and a double swing at the rear which effectively gobbles the road bumps and jerks. The 14-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in tubeless tyres – 80/90 up front and 90/90 at the rear, which adds to the overall riding experience. Braking duties rest with a front disc and a rear drum.
Kymco Super Z 150 8 Series Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the Super Z 150 is a 149.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine which is capable of generating max power of 10.8 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.8 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The engine also features a fuel-injection system that provides extra torque while driving through traffic and while accelerating from the numerous starts and stops of everyday riding. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel using a CVT transmission. Kymco claims that the Super Z 150 returns a mileage of 25kmpl and can easily cross the speed of 100kmph, owing to its powerful engine. The fuel tank capacity of the scooter is 4.6 litres.
Super Z 150 8 Series Braking & Safety
In terms of safety, there’s a little room for improvement. The scooter only comes with a front disc brake option. Other safety features include a pass switch and engine check warning signal.
