Kymco Super Z 150

The Kymco Super Z 150 has a sleek and lean stance, which makes it look small and minimalist for a 150cc scooter. However, the edgy-looking panels do lend it a sporty appearance, which should appeal more to the younger masses, especially first-time scooter buyers.

The Kymco Super Z 150 has a rakish design for the handlebar cowl and front apron. While the handlebar cowl has a dual-tone treatment with a blacked-out triangular visor in the middle, the angular-looking apron houses twin edgy headlamps, which offer all-halogen illumination. However, the bottom edges of these headlamps come with daytime running LEDs over them.

The edgy and minimalist appeal in the design of the Kymco Super Z 150 is carried forward in the side profile of the scooter, with it having sleek-looking panels that flow towards the floorboard and the side body panels. Due to the compact dimensions and taut body panels, the floorboard of the Kymco Super Z 150 might feel a bit cramped for taller riders.

While moving towards the rear, the Kymco Super Z 150 has sleek-looking body panels below its long seat, that flow upwards towards the compact tail section. The scooter has an angular, blacked-out pillion grab rail, with a wide surface over it for a top case carrier. The tail section of the Kymco Super Z 150 has an inverted V-shaped tail lamp cluster with a centrally-placed tail lamp and clear lens turn indicators on both sides.

The Kymco Super Z 150 has a minimalist-looking instrument cluster which has a busy-looking silver-garnished panel that accommodates analogue dials for the speedometer and fuel gauge, along with an odometer. The back portion of the front apron here accommodates tiny storage bins within it, which are good enough for storing small items while on the go. Other utilitarian features of the Kymco Super Z 150 include a decent under-seat storage space of 20 litres and a tow hook in the back of the front apron, with the former large enough to store a half-face helmet.

The Kymco Super Z 150’s lean and compact design plays a huge part in its riding dynamics, as the scooter feels agile to handle and make quick directional changes due to its compact dimensions. The telescopic forks at the front and a unit coil spring at the rear offer decent plushness, while the 14-inch alloy wheels shod with 80/90-14 tyre at the front and a 90/90-14 tyre at the rear further assist in the overall handling. The scooter gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

Powering the Kymco Super Z 150 is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 149.6cc engine, which is paired with a CVT gearbox and churns out 10.8 PS of maximum power and 10.8 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is simple in its construction, which is one of the prime reasons behind the affordable pricing of the scooter as a whole. For a 150cc engine, it lacks power, and despite the low kerb weight, the Kymco Super Z 150 doesn’t feel energetic for a 150cc scooter while on the move.

For an entry-level scooter that misses out on a lot of premium features and design elements, the lack of safety features in the Kymco Super Z 150 is pretty obvious. However, the scooter comes with a disc brake for the front wheel which keeps stopping duties in safe control.

The Kymco Super Z 150 feels like a decent product for its price and appeal with its edgy but functional design, adequate performance on tap and agile handling, making it an effortless commuter for short distances.
