JMC JMK6

Just like the exterior design, the cabin layout of the JMC JMK6 too remains very functional and on-point, with every control just placed at the right place. However, the all-grey theme of the cabin makes it look dull. There are a lot of rectangular influences in the cabin, which make it look a bit busy.

The driver’s cockpit comprises of a two-spoke steering wheel and a fully-analogue instrument console with large dials that look very dated, and so is the panels and switches surrounding the instrument console. The centre console looks very functional with its rectangular layout, which comprises three rectangular partitions – an open storage cavity at the top, a 1-DIN music system in the middle and a control panel for manual AC levers at the bottom. The co-passenger side of the dashboard has a closed glove box, the upper corners of which get squared AC vents.

For a light-duty compact truck, the JMC JMK6 has got just the right dimensions. It is small enough to make it classified as a small light-duty truck but is big enough to make it look like a proper conventional load carrier.

At the front, the JMC JMK6 has a slanted design for its front windshield, which has rounded edges on all four corners. The windshield has got a long blacked-out bar below it, which proudly wears the JMC badge in the middle of it. The side edges of this black bar come with tapered mounts for the outside rearview mirrors, which extend towards the sides with their curved stalks.

Compared to the slanted windscreen, the lower half of the front profile of the JMC JMK6 is laid out vertically. The front apron looks clean and gets the JMK6 branding on its upper right corner. The bottom part of the front profile is characterized by a sleek looking trapezoidal grille, which has hexagonal honeycomb-like inserts.

The lower edges of the front profile have got large-sized trapezoidal headlamps, which have tapered upper edges and also come integrated with clear lens turn indicators. Below the front apron, there is a slim looking front bumper, which comes integrated with fog lamps on either side.

The JMC JMK6 has a compact side profile, which mainly consists of the door panel only. This door panel is mostly covered by the large side window, which has rounded upper edges and a steeply tapering window waistline. There is a sleek looking crease flowing from the edge of the headlamp towards the back part of the door across the width of the door panel, above which the door panel gets small decals. The rear lower corner of the door panel comes with a blacked-out door handle on it.

Thanks to the compact dimensions, the JMC JMK6 is fairly easy to drive a truck even in the urban environment. This 10.5-feet long truck has a leaf spring setup for the suspension at both ends, while for the brakes, it gets a hydraulic service brake and a mechanical parking brake.

Powering the JMC JMK6 is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder direct-injection diesel engine. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 108 bhp and a peak torque output of 260 Nm.

Being an entry-level and cost-effective truck, the JMC JMK6 skips out on several premium safety features. It, however, gets a lockable passenger cabin and simple seat belts as standard.

For its price, the JMC JMK6 offers a stellar value by offering a potent 2.8-litre diesel engine and a 10.5-feet long cargo bay, both of which make it a strong load hauler.
