Cabin check: What’s inside the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i?

BYD Cars Philippines has already introduced the all-new Sealion 6 DM-i. As such, owners looking to get a highly capable hybrid vehicle have received another option to choose from. 

For its powertrain, the all-new BYD crossover uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and the brand’s 18.3 kilowatt-hour Blade battery. 

The said system is known as the BYD Super DualMode-intelligent (DM-i), and it can produce a combined output of 214 horsepower and 325 Newton-meters of torque. It also has a pure electric vehicle mode of 105 kilometers (km), as well as an extended range mode of 1,100 km. 

On the outside, the vehicle sports a slick look which is enhanced by sharp LED exterior lighting fixtures, a sporty-looking front fascia, a mostly smooth side section, as well as an angular rear end. 

Notable exterior equipment for the BYD model includes a power tailgate, sequential turn signal lamps, heated power-folding side mirrors, and automatic functionality for its LED headlamps, among others.

The Sealion 6 is also one of the few models in its price range equipped with acoustic front and rear windows, which may help in maintaining a quiet and serene feel inside the vehicle. Plus, the hybrid crossover also gets two coat hangers, which is also a rarity in the segment.

The cockpit of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is inherently designed as a high-tech space that can meet the needs of even the fussiest techie car owner. 

On its dashboard, for instance, is a large 15.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity. As seen on the likes of the BYD Atto 3, the infotainment display inside the hybrid can rotate with a simple push of a button. The said feature makes for alternative user-interface configurations, which will make it easier to use with certain apps. 

In addition to its nifty rotating feature, the infotainment of the Sealion 6 offers a voice assistant and hands-free calling. The aforementioned will aid drivers in maintaining safe driving practices, such as keeping one’s hands on the wheel and one’s eyes on the road. 

Other notable features of the model’s infotainment system include 4G connectivity, over-the-air software updates, a 10-piece Infinity speaker system, and the BYD smartphone application. 

To note, the BYD App allows users to remotely control the car’s air-conditioning, lights, and door locks. It likewise has access to crucial vehicle information such as maintenance intervals, battery status, and location. 

The pilot of the Sealion 6 DM-i, meanwhile, is provided with a 12.3-inch liquid-crystal display that can show all the necessary driving information in crisp color graphics. 

A world of convenience

Besides having a high-tech cabin, the Sealion 6 DM-i also boasts plenty of convenience features. 

For smartphone charging, the vehicle gets a pair of 15-watt wireless pads. Coupled with its wireless smartphone integration, users aboard the BYD model can do away with cables entirely. 

If the wireless smartphone charging pads aren’t enough, the hybrid also boasts two USB ports for the front and two in the rear. Plus, it gets a 12-volt power socket as well. 

Other notable convenience features inside the Sealion 6 include a total of four cup holders, four bottle holders, a sun visor with lighting, front and rear map lights, and a large center console storage compartment. 

Over to the rear, the all-new BYD hybrid also has a 60:40-split folding rear seat, which does a lot in terms of optimizing interior space.

As mentioned above, the sole variant of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is priced at P1.548 million. For the said amount of money, buyers get an upscale interior, which is filled to the brim with tech and creature comforts. 

The hybrid model is well worth its asking price, and folks who are very particular about comfort and tech will like it.
