Have a peek at the Toyota Avanza's no-nonsense interior

The Toyota Avanza is one of the company’s entries into the local multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment. The family-oriented seven-seater not only has space for everyone but also gets appointments that make the nameplate best suited for traveling with your loved ones.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many variants does the Toyota Avanza have?

The Toyota Avanza has four variants.
  • What is the price range of the Toyota Avanza?

The Toyota Avanza is priced from P838,000-P1.065 million.
  • On that note, we take a quick look at the no-nonsense interior of the Toyota Avanza.

    Plush seats

The Toyota Avanza is built with plus seats that would make its occupants feel comfortable on both short and long drives.

Decent bolstering can be felt on the backrests, especially in the front seats. These side cushions help the driver and the front passenger stay snugly in place even in fast-paced driving situations.

Passengers sitting at the second and even third-row seating will find decent support for their back and posterior.

The fabric upholstery has also been thoughtfully designed with patterns that do well in hiding dust and dirt. And when the time to clean them up comes, they won’t give owners a hard time since common smudges can easily be removed from the seat covers.

    Plenty of hard plastics

In contrast to the soft cushions of the Toyota Avanza’s seats, the trims found around its cabin are made out of hard plastic, which is not entirely a bad thing.

These durable surfaces are easy to clean. A simple wipe using a damp microfiber cloth can take away the typical dust buildup accumulated through everyday use.

Likewise, these plastic claddings can withstand minor bumps and strikes, which would otherwise score and scrape softer materials.

In a way, these plastic coverings make the Toyota Avanza able to hold up against the usual wear and tear of family cars.

    Versatile cabin

The Toyota Avanza boasts a versatile cabin, thanks to the seats that can configured to accommodate the needs of its owners.

First, the second-row seats — by default — can cater to three passengers. But, if only two people occupy the space, the center backrest can be pulled down and converted into an armrest. There are no cup holders here, but the folded portion can offer support and add some level of comfort to those on the second-row bench.

Second, if the legroom offered by the standard seating arrangement is not enough, the second-row seats can be fully folded down to give more than ample stretch room for its occupants.

Finally, if an owner of the Toyota Avanza needs to haul cargo, the second and third-row seats can be fully clamped to allow long items to be loaded inside the cabin.

    An abundance of cubbies

The Toyota Avanza understands one’s need to stay recharged and hydrated. That said, it has an abundance of cubbies where passengers can stow away some snacks and beverages during trips.

Bottle holders have been installed on the doors while cubbies have been placed on each of the ends of the third-row seats. The center armrest for the front passengers has a decent-sized compartment and the dashboard hides some storage areas to keep smartphones, wallets, and other everyday items.

    Utilitarian screens

The screens fitted on the Toyota Avanza are nothing to write home about. However, they are the kind that will stand the test of time and will not cause the driver any unnecessary problems.

Past the steering wheel is an instrument cluster that combines both analog and digital meters. While it’s not as fancy as those offered by its competitors, the information displayed by the gauges is easy to read and understand.

Similarly, the infotainment system won’t win Toyota any awards. However, it feeds the driver essential information and provides the passengers with some form of engagement. Plus, the chunky bezel surrounding the screen makes it look like it can take a good beating.
