Old vs. new: What are the upgrades on 2024 Kia Seltos?

The Kia Seltos has been known for its stylish design, robust performance, and advanced features, making it a popular choice among Filipino car buyers. With the introduction of the new Seltos, it is important to understand the key differences and upgrades the latest model brings to the table.

Let’s explore the enhancements of the new Seltos in terms of design, performance, safety, and pricing.

Exterior

The old Seltos had a length of 4,370 millimeters (mm), a width of 1,800 mm, and a height of 1,615 mm. It is designed with a radiator grille with black and silver molding; LED headlamps, daytime running lights, position lamp, and front fog lamps; and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.

On the other hand, the new Seltos features redesigned exterior elements that give it a fresh and modern look. It is slightly bigger than its predecessor, measuring 4,385 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall. The new Seltos also features a sportier look and a bolder grille, but it retains the all-LED illumination system and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

The seats of the old Seltos were upholstered in a combination of leatherette and fabric. The cabin also came with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as four speakers.

Meanwhile, the interior of the new Seltos is upgraded with leather seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple Carplay connectivity, and six speakers. It also comes with a wireless charging dock.

Engine

The old Seltos was powered by a 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder, double overhead cam (DOHC) engine that was mated to an intelligent variable transmission.

On the other hand, there are two powertrain options for the new Seltos: a 1.5-liter in-line four-cylinder, DOHC engine paired with an intelligent variable transmission and a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Safety

The old Seltos provided a decent amount of safety features, including driver, front-passenger, and side airbags; anti-lock braking system; electronic stability control; hill start assist control; cruise control; rear camera display; and parking distance warning. 

All these safety features are also present on the new Seltos, however, it comes with additional driver assistance systems, such as lane keeping assist, lane following assist, and forward collision avoidance assist to ensure a more convenient and safer driving.

Variants and pricing

The old Seltos came in two variants — the EX priced at P1.208 million and the SX priced at P1.56 million.

More options are offered to buyers of the new Seltos as it is also  available in the base LX variant that retails for P1.198 million. Meanwhile, the SX and EX trims of the new model are priced higher than its predecessor, costing P1.288 million and P1.688 million, respectively.
