Sedan or hatchback: Which Mazda 2 is for you?

Sedan or hatchback: Which Mazda 2 is for you?

If you’re the type of car browser who values style, elegance, and, yes, affordability, then you might want to consider the Mazda 2 as a first vehicle or an additional one in your garage. Its commitment to detail, fun, and boldness tells a lot about the premium foundations of the brand.

This vehicle draws inspiration from the "Evolved Kodo: Soul of Motion" design concept, which seeks to convey quality, confidence, and design from all angles.

The Mazda 2 is available in two variants — the 1.5L AT Sedan Elite and the 1.5L AT Hatchback Elite — and maintains its composure on the road. A sporty and lean stance makes it an ideal vehicle for daily driving.

The new wing and front grille of the Mazda 2 help to heighten a sense of luxury.

Both the Sedan Elite and the Hatchback Elite are equipped with exterior features such as power-adjust side mirrors with power fold, intermittent wipers, LED headlamps with auto leveling, and 16-inch gray metallic alloy wheels that make them perfect for road adventures.

The Mazda 2 is equipped with a fuel-efficient and powerful 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G in-line four-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC gasoline engine mated to a Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode.

The engine generates a maximum torque of 141Nm and a maximum power of 108hp for a more dynamic driving experience.

Through the G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) feature, you and your family or friends can take advantage of a more refined, intuitive, and seamless road trip since noise, vibration, and harshness are also significantly decreased.

The Mazda 2 takes pride in a brown and black theme that blends with a chic and fun interior. It also features enhanced fabric seats composed with a spacer, supporter, and an optimized spring rate for the seatback and cushion to aid you in maintaining a natural S-shaped spine while driving.

Comfort and convenience are prioritized in the Mazda 2 Sedan Elite and Hatchback Elite variants through features such as the leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls, paddle shifters, a manual handbrake, single-zone automatic climate control at the front, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a manual day and night rearview mirror, as well as one-touch up/down power windows at the driver’s side.

Passengers can control the music applications and navigation of their mobile phones through the Mazda Connect infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth, and integrated Smartphone Mirroring for enhanced connectivity during daily commute and weekend road trips.

Other innovative connectivity and entertainment features include the analog speedometer with digital tachometer, six speakers, and the Bluetooth hands-free system.

Safety is also emphasized in the Mazda 2 through the presence of advanced safety features like the Isofix for more convenient and accurate attachment of the child car seat, rearview camera for easier reverse parking, rear parking sensor that alerts the driver of any obstacle while parking, Smart Keyless Entry system with Push Start Button, dual front airbags, Dynamic Stability Control that instantly prevents the vehicle from skidding, and the Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) that prevents locking and slipping once brakes are applied.

So the question is: Which body type do you prefer? Aside from the above-mentioned features, we do a spec check to note the  similarities and differences between the two variants of the Mazda 2.
