Will the Hyundai Ioniq 6 be unveiled at MIAS 2023?

Shortly after we made assumptions as to what cars we’ll see at MIAS 2023, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. sent an email to the media, inviting us to catch their showcase at the event. What stood out in that invite was this — a close-up shot of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV, the sleeker-looking sibling to the Ioniq 5. Now we didn’t see this coming.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much could the Hyundai Ioniq 6 be priced in the Philippine market?

The luxury electric sedan could cost more than its crossover stablemate, which in turn retails from P3-million. There is a chance that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will make its local debut at MIAS.
  • Could this mean Hyundai is adding another EV in its lineup? No definite answers as of this writing — all will be revealed when MIAS 2023 rolls from April 13 to 16. In the meantime, let’s take a quick look what makes the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 an electrifying vehicle.

    Hyundai Ioniq 6

Dubbed as an “Electrified Streamliner,” the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is aerodynamically shaped and uses sustainable materials in clever ways to represent the values of today's electric vehicle customers.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is characterized by clean lines and a pure aerodynamic form that Hyundai designers refer to as “Emotional Efficiency.” The Hyundai Ioniq 6 was inspired by Hyundai's Prophecy EV Concept. A new generation of electric mobility is embodied by the Hyundai Ioniq 6's electrified streamliner typology and thoughtful cocoon-like interior, and the overall design concept of “Ethical Uniqueness” underlines Hyundai's customer-focused commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Based on earlier details from Hyundai, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 measures 4,855mm long, 1,880mm wide, and 1,495mm tall. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is fitted with 20-inch or 18-inch wheels.

The interior of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 offers a cozy, personalized sanctuary. The driver can choose from a palette of 64 colors and six pre-selected themes to modify the look and ambiance of the cabin using Dual Color Ambient Lighting. The Speed Sync adjusts the brightness of the interior lighting in the first row depending on the speed of the vehicle.

The 77.4kWh battery of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 powers the front and rear electric motors. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 now has all-wheel drive and a system output of 321hp and 605Nm of torque. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes using a high-speed charger. When fully charged, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a range of 614km.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 offers the same cutting-edge vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, allowing customers to plug in electronic devices to the vehicle to charge them. It is perfect for camping, outdoor activities, and powering necessities during a power outage.

V2L is enabled using an available accessory adaptor that goes into the outside charging port. A second outlet for charging laptops, phones, and other devices is located under the back row seat.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 comes standard with Hyundai SmartSense, ensuring safety while driving.

How much could the Hyundai Ioniq 6 be priced in the Philippine market?

Whether the carmaker will stage an official launch or a mere preview of the Ioniq 6, is still a MIAS 2023 mystery. Launch or not, we expect the luxury electric sedan to cost more than its crossover stablemate, which in turn retails from P3-million.

But what’s a bit of premium for a wealth of style and sustainability?
