1 Million Mile Club has a new entrant, and it’s a Hyundai
MANILA: Farrah Haines brought home a Hyundai Elantra, and today, the instrument cluster of the sedan looks a bit different. The unique addition is the 1M emblem on the odometer. Yes, you guessed it right. The sedan from the South Korean auto giant has travelled over a million miles, which translates to more than 1.6 million kilometres.
When we hear the stories of cars crossing 1 million kilometres, it’s mostly German or Japanese vehicles which come to our mind right away. However, this Hyundai Elantra must provide everyone with all the answers who have ever doubted the durability of the cars from Korea.
The owner, Farrah Haines is a delivery driver and drives her Elantra around 26,667 kilometres every month. As result, she cranked up 1 million miles (1.6 million kms) on her odometer in a matter of 5 years. The addition of a bullbar is the only modification Farrah has done to her sedan, and the rest of the car is as standard as anyone else’s Elantra.
The emblem on her Elantra’s odometer is made of gold and there’s also a 1 Million Mile Club number plate frame at the rear of the car. Both the emblem and the special number plate frame have been gifted to Farrah by Hyundai North America.
Farrah has no plans of getting a new Elantra or any other car for that matter. Instead, she is looking forward to hitting the road with her trustworthy Elantra for as long as possible. She is aiming to clock 1.5 million miles (2.4 million kms) on her odometer and then even 2 million miles (3.2 million kms). The feat might not take more than 5 years for Farrah to achieve as she has already hit the 1 million miles mark in 5 years only.
