2015 Mazda6 Sports Wagon Shows Up in Philippines
MANILA: Mazda makes merry! Yes, the Japanese automaker, Mazda Motor Corporation gives not only one but three reasons to Filipinos to merry as long as they want. First is the launch of the 2015 Mazda sports wagon in Makati city, second is the introduction of the updated version of Mazda6 sedan, and third is the debut of the face-lifted CX-5.
First previewed in the 2015 Manila Auto Show, the Mazda6 Sports Wagon is certainly a different choice than a classic luxury crossover or an executive sedan. Mazda Philippines President said, “It is like you combine the best elements of the Mazda6 sedan and the CX-5,” At the first glance, the Sports wagon may look like a sedan but indeed it is taller and wider. It is fitted with a wide grille, LED headlights, large bumper, and prominent wheel arches. At the back, the vehicle is spotted with LED taillights, roof-mounted spoiler and dual exhaust pipes. Other features which give the final finishing touch are the sculpted hood, chrome trims, roof rails, shark fin antenna, and 19-inch aluminum wheels.
What is observed inside the cabin of the wagon is the aluminium inserts along with soft touch materials and a 7-inch screen which is controlled by a rotary wheel. There are also power seats with 8-way adjustment for the driver and 6-way for the passenger.
Under the bonnet lies the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G engine that delivers 187 PS of power and 290 Nm of torque. Thus, this engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to give speed to this wagon and an electronic parking brake to break the speed.
On second number comes the updated version of the Mazda6 sedan which almost resembles to its sibling Sport Wagon in terms of exterior and interior and the power plant as well. It also carries the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G engine with same power and torque.
The third is the face-lifted CX-5 which has a redesigned fog lights and refurbished grille. More, it comes with adaptive LED headlights, large bumpers, 19-inch wheels, distinctive taillights, roof-mounted spoiler and dual tailpipes. The interiors are also refreshed with a new instrument cluster, leather steering wheel and a 7-inch Mazda Connect display. Similar to Mazda6, it also features an electronic parking brake along with rotary commander switch.
The 2015 CX-5 is powered by either a 2.5 or a 2.0 liter engine wherein the first delivers 188 PS and 240 Nm, and the second gives output of 155 PS and 200 Nm.
All these brand new three Mazdas will be available with the Berjaya Auto Philippines (BAP), the official distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country with the following price tags.
This reminds of ending on another happy note that BAP also introduces the new entry level variants of CX-5 named as 2.5-liter CX-5 AWD Sport, 2.0-liter CX-5 FWD Pro, and 2.0-liter CX-5 FWD Maxx.
