2019 Audi Q8 arrives on the Filipino shores
MANILA: Mr. Enrique Zobel, the former president of the Manila Polo Club from 1963 to 1964 was honoured by a match at the 16th Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup. But how is that related to the automobile industry? Well, the event was also host to the launch of the all-new 2019 Audi Q8.
Benedicto Coyiuto, the Audi Philippines Head said at the event, “We are very proud to launch the bold, new face of the Audi SUV family – the all-new Audi Q8. It is the most advanced SUV from Audi, bringing together the characteristic design of a coupe and the comfort and safety of a large SUV. The Audi Q8 is also equipped with mild hybrid technology, resulting to a higher level of efficiency and excellent engine performance”.
Talking about the design of the 2019 Audi Q8. The SUV features a pair of tapered LED headlamps flanking a Singleframe octagonal grille. Adding to the muscular appeal of the car is a sporty front bumper. On the sides, you can see the flared wheel arches.
Moving to the rear of the SUV we notice a tailgate-mounted spoiler along with LED strip taillights. The Q8 stands 4986 mm long, 1995 mm wide, and 1705 mm tall. The SUV boasts a wheelbase of 2995 mm. Unlike the Q7, the Q8 can seat 5 adults only. However, the boot space is generous at 1,755-litre with the second row folded down.
On the inside, there is a natural voice which can perform pretty much every function on the command of the driver. Moreover, the MMI touch response which included two large touchscreens on the centre console helps in adjusting or activate a function on the SUV.
The instrument cluster on the 2019 Audi Q8 consists of a 12.3-inch display with two different view modes. Taking care of the musical needs is the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System. The Audi Q8 also comes equipped with 360-degree cameras to aid the driver in difficult and congested situations.
Powering the Audi Q8 is a 3.0-litre TFSI motor. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 340 PS. A lithium-ion battery and a belt alternator starter make up the 48 V mild hybrid technology (MHEV). While braking, the alternator can make up to up to 12 kW of power and feed the battery with it. Thanks to the mechanical centre differential, power to the front and the rear axle is served in the ratio of 40:60.
With two different modes, namely comfort and sport, there is also the adaptive air suspension with controlled damping as standard. Depending on the driver’s preference, the ride height of the SUV can be altered by up to 90 mm. If you liked the all-new Q8, do not forget to check out other cars in the Audi Philippines lineup.
