2019 Chevrolet Captiva to arrive in the Philippines soon?

MANILA: Based on the Baojun 530, the 2019 Chevrolet Captiva was launched in the Latin American markets not so long ago. Going global, the SUV has now been launched by the American automaker in Thailand. Now with the arrival in the ASEAN region, the Chevy SUV will lock horns with the likes of Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester. An advantage that the Chevrolet Captiva holds is that the American SUV stands 4,655 mm long compared to its competitors which measure around 4,500 mm.

The design language of the Captiva is not too different from the SUV that is sold in Latin America. Up front, we see a three-slat grille, silver accents, slim LED headlights on the corners of the hood. The ground clearance also looks adequate. Looking from the side, the SUV gets a bold shoulder line and the sharp character lines at the rear on the wide tailgate complement the car just the way they should. Moving inside the 2019 Chevrolet Captiva, we are greeted by a “waterfall” inspired dashboard.

Interesting feature inside is the tablet-like infotainment screen. The door grab handle has also got a unique and quirky shape to it. Making our way to the mechanicals of the SUV, there is a 1.5-litre turbocharged mill that is capable of producing 150 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 230 Nm. A six-speed dual clutch unit is the only transmission option available with the 2019 Chevrolet Captiva. While the gasoline-fed motor is good enough, we hope that the turbodiesel also comes along the next-gen SUV.

The presence of Chevrolet Philippines dealers at the VIP launch surely indicates that the SUV may indeed land on the Filipino shores sooner than later. We certainly won't mind the new Captiva to be displayed at the upcoming 2019 Manila International Auto Show, would we?
