2019 Jeep Wrangler arrives in the Philippines, priced at Php 3,390,000
MANILA: The 2019 Jeep Wrangler was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show a while back. And after all the impatient wait, the all-new Wrangler has been launched in the Philippines by Auto Nation Group, who is the official distributor of Jeep vehicles in the country.
While the revisited 2019 Wrangler continues to flaunt its old-school boxy appearance, it still manages to offer all the high-tech and modern features one could wish for in a new age car. A much more rakish windshield, bolder than before front grille, larger halogen headlamps with the option of LEDs,
revised bumper, and many more bettered elements provide the 4x4 with an appealing yet practical look. And it is not just the looks which have been improved, the 2019 Wrangler is good 90-kg lighter compared to the last generation model, thanks to the use of aluminium and high-strength steel by Jeep.
Parts like hood, doors, tailgate and windshield frame have been made using lightweight aluminium, while the new body frame has been carved out of high-strength steel. The use of these elements not only helped the new Wrangler in losing some weight but also in becoming more durable than before.
Moving inside the 2019 Jeep Wrangler we see new-style gauges and multi-info display, revamped HVAC controls, and updated steering wheel design. The is also a new centre console that is capable of housing as many as five smartphone devices at one go. Features like a foldable windshield along with removable doors and roof are still present on the updated Wrangler. Jeep has also renovated the gear selector and 4x4 lever systems.
The infotainment system is a 5-inch Uconnect 3 touchscreen display equipped with supports AM/FM radio, USB, Aux, Bluetooth connectivity. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler also gets much-needed peculiarities like an eight-speaker sound system, 60:40 split rear seats, tilt/telescopic steering column, and a leather steering wheel with audio controls.
Powering this updated old-school beast is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four motor good enough for 268 PS of maximum power at 5250 rpm and a peak torque of 400 Nm at 3000 rpm. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends the power to all four wheels. In the near future, Jeep will also offer a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 that produces 290 PS power and 353 Nm of torque.
Safety features on the 2019 Wrangler are plenty including anti-lock braking system, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, traction, stability control, roll mitigation, engine stop-start, trailer sway damping, rear parking assist and tire pressure monitoring.
