2019 Volvo S60 launched with smarter attributes
MANILA: After the grand reveal of the all-new V60 a few months back, Volvo has officially launched the third-gen S60. Known for the high-tech features and amenities, the new sedan from the stable of the Swedish car manufacturer is no exception. It comes with intelligent safety features that provide a sense of satisfaction to the passengers.
Not just intelligence, the all-new S60 has stunning looks to show off as well. Like the V60, the S60 is on the sleeker side. Upfront, it gets the signature Thor’s Hammer-styled LED headlamps, a sharper front bumper, and the LED DRLs. The front grille is a lot more compact now. At the back, the sedan gets a coupe-inspired design, C-shaped LED tail lights, and exhaust vents on either end. The flowing lines all over the body make up for the sedan's chiselled look. The alloys are available in different finishes and sizes, allowing customers to choose according to their taste and preference.
Inside, the sedan is decked up with premium leather, which is accentuated by the presence of metal inserts, glossy finish and other soft-touch materials. At the centre, there is a full-digital instrument console for controlling different high-tech features of the sedan. Some notable ones include a four-way climate control system, 4-way lumbar support, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, and the 9-inch Sensus Connect infotainment system with touchscreen. The S60 also supports wireless technology features like 4G LTE and GPS. In addition, you can connect smart iOS- or Android-powered gadgets via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The four-door sedan is available in two engine choices, one is a turbocharged gasoline engine while the other is a plug-in hybrid version with a turbo-supercharged four-cylinder engine. The diesel variant, though, hasn’t been considered by the automaker for the new S60. The entry-level T5 and the T6 get a gasoline turbocharged four-cylinder engine whose power is rated at 250 PS and 316 PS respectively. While the former is available with the FWD (front-wheel drive) system, the latter gets an AWD (all-wheel drive) option. The T6 and T8 Twin Engine AWD models are hybrid variants with power rated at 340 PS and 400 PS respectively. They are equipped with a supercharger for additional power.
An optional upgrade in form of Polestar with twin-engine is also available that spruce up the S60 with beefier brakes, upmarket alloys, tires and suspension setup in addition to elevating the power output to 415PS. The 2019 Volvo S60 is equipped with smart safety features like lane mitigation, automatic emergency braking, run-off-road mitigation, steering assistance systems and rear cross traffic alert. There is a Pilot Assist System that works as a semi-autonomous driving system.
Customers will start receiving deliveries of the 2019 Volvo S60 in the last quarter of the ongoing year.
