2020 BMW X1 & 1 Series have arrived in the Philippines
MANILA: If you were thinking of getting yourself an entry-level BMW crossover or hatchback, the time has come to make a move and get your hands on one as the German automaker has launched the all-new 2020 X1 and 1 Series models in the Philippines. Starting with the 2020 BMW 1 Series, the German offering now comes underpinned by the UKL platform, which also lays the foundation for the Mini.
Taking inspiration from the likes of the 2 Series Active Tourer and X1, the 2020 BMW 1 Series flaunts a trademark BMW wide front double kidney grille, LED headlamps headlights, sloping roofline, L-shaped LED taillights, and chunky & stylish alloy wheels. Unlike before, the new 1 Series now features a front-wheel-drive instead of a rear-wheel-drive. Courtesy of this change, the new 1 Series now boasts more cabin space and rear legroom than before.
Inside, the 2020 BMW 1 Series gets a driver-oriented cockpit, dual-zone automatic climate control system, fully-digital instrument panel with navigation display, iDrive infotainment system with navigation, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and many other creature comforts.
Powering the 2020 BMW 1 Series is a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged generating 140 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 220 Nm. The power is then sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It takes not more than 8.5 seconds for the hatch to do a 0 to 100 kmph run. Also, on offer is the M135i xDrive model that comes housing a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo capable of producing 306 PS and 450 Nm. Thanks to the much powerful heart, the 0 to 100 kmph time comes down to just 4.8 seconds. Being an M division model, the M135i XDrive also gets M performance package, M interior amenities, M Sport brakes, and M aerodynamic package. The 2020 BMW 1 Series 118i Sport Line and M135i xDrive models are priced at:
- 2020 BMW 1 Series 118i Sport Line: 2,690,000
- 2020 BMW 1 Series M135i xDrive: 4,590,000
As for the 2020 BMW X1, the revisited small luxury crossover gets sharp LED headlamps, bolder & wider than before front grille, edgy corner air intakes, 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, and a rear end that is very much the same as before. Even though the 2020 X1's interior remains more or less the same, there come a few changes in the form of fresh leather upholstery, new gear selector, instrument panel and floor mats with new contrast stitching, and an array of modish metal accents and piano black trim pieces.
The 2020 BMW X1 gets its juices from a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo diesel engine churning out 150 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 330 Nm. It is then an eight-speed automatic transmission that channels the power to the front wheels. The 2020 BMW X1 is priced at 3,090,000.
