2020 Ford Ranger FX4 comes with standout decals and two engine options
MANILA: Ford updated its pickup lineup by adding a new variant—the 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 edition.
With major players like Isuzu, Nissan, and Mitsubishi updating their pickup truck segment, Ford will not be left behind. Ford just unveiled the 2020 Ranger FX4, just in time for the holiday season. And if the name rings a bell, you are not mistaken. Ford has used it in the past. And much like its 2017 predecessor, the new generation FX4 will be based on the XLT 4x4.
The 2020 FX4 exterior features a slew of black and red decals on the front doors and tailgate to make it visually stand out from the rest of the Ranger models. The new Ford truck will also sport darkened bi-LED headlamps, ebony black mesh front grille, a matching black extended sports bar, and mirror caps, door handles, tailgate handle, and fenders also in ebony black finish. The exterior look is completed with a set of 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the new generation FX4 features a three-spoke, multi-function steering wheel, leather sports seats with Race Red stitching and FX4 logos embossed on them, tinted Graphite garnish on the door cards and instrument panel, FX4 carpet mats for both the front and rear rows, and Race Red stitching that runs on the length of the dashboard, steering wheel, gear selector, and center console to tie-up the look.
The interior design is complemented by savvy technology like an 8.0-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system with smartphone mirroring and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible; voice-activated satellite navigation; and fully digital instrument cluster.
In terms of safety and driver-assist features, the Ford Ranger FX4 comes standard with a rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping aid, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high-beam. There is an optional package to include adaptive cruise control and semi-automatic parallel parking functions.
Under the hood, the new FX4 is powered by either the EcoBlue 2.0-liter partnered to a 10-speed gearbox capable of delivering 210 hp of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torque or a Duratorq 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to a six-speed transmission (with option for manual or automatic) that can produce 197 hp and 470 Nm of peak torque. Both powertrains have a maximum towing capacity of 3500 Kg.
Though the pricing is yet to be released, there is a strong possibility that the new 2020 FX4 will also be offered here in the Philippines.
