2020 Nissan Juke makes its global debut

MANILA: Remember the images of the 2020 Nissan Juke where the updated crossover was wearing a camouflage? Well, if you were also waiting eagerly for the quirky looking Japanese to come out off the wraps, the automaker has finally unveiled the all-new Juke.

So, how does the new Juke look? And, what kind of new features and tech does the crossover boasts? In simplest of the words, the 2020 Nissan Juke is both bigger and better than the previous model.

Standing at 4210 mm long, 1800 mm wide, and 1595 mm tall, the refreshed crossover is 85 mm longer, 35 mm wider, and 25 mm taller than its predecessor. A total of 11 color combinations are available for the exterior finish. Upfront, the 2020 Nissan Juke flaunts the trademark & stylish V-motion grille that is flanked by a two-tier headlamp setup.

There are slim LED DRLs with Y-shaped LED headlights in round enclosures. At the rear end is a .new pair of LED taillamps that has replaced the previously used 370Z-inspired units. The side profile of the all-new Juke is bestowed by 19-inch alloy wheels and floating roof design.

Besides the bigger dimensions of the 2020 Nissan Juke, the overall weight of the crossover has gone down by good 23 kilograms. Thanks to the use of high strength steel that has provided the new Juke with a more rigid platform, the next-generation Juke is not only more stable than before but also boasts improved cornering and overall handling capabilities.

Hop inside the 2020 Nissan Juke and you are greeted with a brand new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is powered by NissanConnect and features Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bose sound system, and much more. Nissan has also equipped the crossover with redesigned gauges, flat-bottom steering wheel, piano black trims, faux metal accents, Alcantara leather upholstery, and a newly designed automatic climate control panel.

Housing under the hood of the all-new Juke is a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine that churns out 117 PS of maximum power and gets three drive modes - Eco, Standard, and Sport.

Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yes, the dual-clutch gearbox comes with paddle shifters. Both the Nissan's ProPilot and Intelligent Mobility have also made their way to the 2020 Juke.

While the Nissan Intelligent Mobility brings along safety features like lane departure alert, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, emergency braking with both pedestrian and cyclist detection, and traffic sign recognition, the ProPilot package enables semi-autonomous controlling of acceleration, steering, and braking. Following the Europe launch, the 2020 Nissan Juke should make its way to other markets around the globe sooner than later.
