2020 RAM 1500 gets a diesel V6 and we’d love it to be in PH
MANILA: Most of the manufacturers have started to do away with the internal combustion engines in favour of electric technology. Moreover, it’s the diesel engines that have been shown the door out much earlier by numerous automakers around the globe. In the Philippines, however, the population still has a soft corner for diesel-fed motors and would love for the automakers to offer an array of diesel-powered engines.
That’s the reason we would love the 2020 RAM 1500 with its EcoDiesel V6 to land on the Philippine shores. There’s no denying to the fact the pickup segment is gaining pace as more and more people are preferring to purchase a pickup for both their personal and professional usage. With that said, the 2020 RAM 1500 with an EcoDiesel V6 would certainly be warmly welcomed by the Filipinos.
Speaking of the 2020 RAM 1500, the American pickup truck houses the third-generation EcoDiesel V6 by the automaker. The updated engine is claimed to make more power along with emitting much fewer carbon emissions. Moreover, while the EcoDiesel V6 is much smaller than other engines, it can tow significantly more than the same other mills.
The power figures show that the 3.0-litre V6 makes 260 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 650 Nm. The new engine gets a forged steel crankshaft, aluminium-alloy pistons, and heat-treated aluminium cylinder heads along with higher-pressure fuel injectors, new water-cooled VG turbocharger, and a better compression ratio of 16.5:1. As a result, the new engine enables the 2020 RAM 1500 to tow up to 5,697 kg of cargo.
“The new RAM 1500 EcoDiesel is America’s most powerful half-ton diesel pickup, following up on RAM’s Heavy Duty torque leadership and achieving what no other manufacturer has, with up to 480 lb.-ft. of torque in a 3.0-litre engine. The all-new EcoDiesel engine and our eTorque mild-hybrid powertrain technologies deliver the highest available fuel efficiency for our RAM 1500 customers,” said Reid Bigland, Head of RAM.
Considering the increasing affection towards pickup trucks in the Philippines and diesel being the more liked fuel, the automaker should definitely bring the 2020 RAM 1500 with the EcoDiesel V6 to the Philippines.
